Have you checked your wheel weights?

reall could be wheel weights or if your tires are worn then they may just need re-balancing

unless its consistant at a certain rpm, it probably isnt in the drivetrain

I forgot to call you back Ian, the symptoms you are feeling are not common to the two piece oem unit. It's not likely to be the culprit and I haven't seen anybody to date mention balancing a two piece.
Who did your gears? and why do they need reshimmed? If you had tolerance issues I wouldn't have pushed the car until those were rectified, especially 120+ blasts. Any sort of "freedom" back there would certainly enhance with increased speeds. Not that they are the cause, but that your causing adverse wear in doing so. |

I'd clean up the gear install, make sure that's mint and then tackle the drive shaft quirks. One may be causing or enhancing the other.

I agree with erin, fix one issue first and see how it effects the other.
But, I'm not sure why you need to "reshim" your gears. If they were set up wrong, and you've driven like that this long, they will have taken a wear pattern and no shimming will fix it. Hate to say it, but you'll probably need new gears.

If I had to guess anything my money would be on a bad or loss U Joint. I had some common things like you but I had a bad fly wheel with the U Joint and ToB. But recommend checking U joints first but after reading your last post you should feel the vibrations pretty good but it wouldn't hurt.
