Mass air sensor question ?

Has anyone had a mass air sensor problem on our s197's ? I had a nitrous backfire a week or so back and ever since that my car smells like raw fuel out the exhaust while idleing and you can hear and feel it stumble once you get it up to cruising speed. But it still pulls hard in the upper rpm band, and I have lost about 2 miles per gallon ? Any suggestions ???

Better watch it with those nitrous backfires and having a plastic topend... I would be more concerned with what made it backfire first, then worry about your problem.

Try cleaning it or borrowing the MAF from a friend's S197, see if it changes anything.
Plus it's a 5 minutes install job.
Just promise your friend that you buy a new one if you backfire in his and break it also...

the electronics in the MAF sensor are pretty delicate. I wouldn't be surprised if the backfire did not make it FUBAR.

I've heard of a couple MAF sensor failures over at TMS. Listen to everyone above my post... good places to start trouble shooting.
