'07 Mustang GT Header Install

I am looking at installing some long tube headers on my '07 Mustang GT. I had a '99 GT and that was a beast installing them on that one. Does anyone have any advice on how best to install them and if you experienced any problems or tips that you can pass on.

Raise the engine, remove the k-member and then lower the engine until I can get at the heads correct. About 2-4"'s?

Installed Hooker long tubes on my 4V. It is a PITA but very doable. Just time consuming. As stated, support from above and drop the k. Took me a buddy about 8 hours or so. Ofcourse we took our time, had a few drinks and also had a couple other buddies come over who BS'd for a while.

Another word of advice if you do the L/T's DO NOT get SLP's unless you got some ear plugs....lol. I have to change out mine so I don't get pulled over.

Worth it?

Nobody can argue that headers are cool, if just for looks alone. This is not a smart ass question, but I never really noticed stock maniflods that looked more free flowing than on my 07 GT, and was wondering if you thought the price of the headers and the work involved netted you the increase in power you wanted?
I mean, if money was no object, then no question I want the best most expensive ceramic coated long tubes I can hang under there. :wink

Headers on a modular motor do not give you much bang for the buck. You're looking at around 15 RWHP with Kooks and X-pipe as well as MAC LT's and the prochamber. By the time you pay for the parts and installation, you're looking at close to 2 grand.

A C&L Air Intake with the X-Caliber tune will gain you approximately 18-22 RWHP with an 87 octane tune and 22-28 RWHP with a 93 octane tune. By far the biggest bolt-on horsepower gain for these modular motors.

If you have the bucks and like the sound, then go for it...

Personally, I would recommend the CAI w/tune and some .410's -will DEFINITELY make a huge difference in the way the car performs for around 1 grand installed.

Another thing with longtubes, I have Mac's and when a syncro went out on my 05 5-speed, i had to pay $270 to the dealership to have the headers removed to pull the tranny to fix it...just a word of advice...this is book labor, and they cut me to 270 from 380 (made it fleet labor) cause i made a big uproar about it. Also will charge you if you have aftermarket XPipe in the way...anything aftermarket carries the pleasure of the dealership un-install, re-install fee for warranty repairs...
