You should go with a 20 or an 18... not 19. You'll have an easier time finding tires for 20's than you would 19's. Plus they look better. I don't have 20's yet, but will soon. this isn't a pic of my car, but i love this pic and it is a pic of 20's

+1 on not going with 19's.

i have 18x9.5 and 18x8.5
for me it is all about having some meat on your tire so i didn't go for the 20's. you will also be able to hook a bit better with that extra meat.
if you are only looking for the looks though it is all about which you like more. you can see my car in my garage.

For looks go for the 20's. For performance, go for the 18's. Don't get 19's, cause as it states here, it is harder to find tires for them.

What type of performance do you give up with 20's vs. 18's?

A taller, bigger wheel takes more to get moving, and it also adds more unsprung weight. Unless you can afford to spring for super-expensive lightweight 20's, an 18 is easier to get rolling from a standstill.IT's the same principal behind putting in a lightweight driveshaft, any time you can take weight out of a rotating driveline part, you increase performance. Add weight, and you decrease it.I forget the exact numbers, but I'm sure it's just a google away, but adding/reducing weight in a rotating part of the driveline has a much greater impact on performance than removing dead weight from the car.Imagine taking it to extremes, if you had 400 lb wheels at the rear of the car, or a 400 lb flywheel, how hard would they be to get moving?

20's are better for handling though! Less sidewall = less tire movement when cornering. 18's are better for taking off, but 20's are better for cornering.

The diameter of the wheel doesn't have this effect on handling ability, & the diameter of the wheel also doesn't dictate the sidewall height.it's the sidewall height alone (and tire width, and tread composition & type, I know) that affects this. You can have the same sidewall height on a 14 inch tire as you can have on a 20, you just have to buy the right profile tire for a given diameter of wheel.

my tires grip like mad and they are on 18" wheels with the same height as factory. can you say 60+ around on/off ramps

bfg kdw's are the sh!t for wet or dry.....
not the greatest from a stop though. i'll be getting drag radials after these back tires are done

Don't forget that width is very important too.

If you get a 18x9 then you can have caliper clearance issues if you ever put in a big brake kit.

I just put 275/40/18's all the way around, but some guys are going 255's up front and 305's in the back. Of course that means different width wheels for front and back.

+1 on going 18x9.5's

I went with 18's, you can find pics here... http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...6-vt14412.html

I didn't go with 20's because to me, they look completely ghetto. There's a V6 rolling around here on 20's, and it looks terrible to me. Anything bigger than 18's, to me, doesn't belong on a "muscle car."
I got 255's on the front, and 295's on the rear, and they sit just right for my taste. The tires aren't stretched to the edge of the wheels, nor do they bubble out way past the wheels. But it's really all a matter of opinion.

I agree with Slapster. I haven't seen too many Mustangs with 20's that look good, and it's a pain in the dick finding 19 inch tires. I prefer 18's myself.

Thanks a lot ozan. I've had them on for a little over a week, and I still get giddy every time I see them. Glad I could help you out!
