TCI Ratchet Shifter Installed
alright I installed my TCI shifter today my first thoughts is it looks and feels awsome and it makes driving an auto alot more fun ... alright this is my first write up so be gental
First things first I did this at my job so I had a lift but can easily be done on the ground with a jack and jackstands. Step 1: put car on lift ( or jackstands) and put the gear selector into drive and shut the car off. Pull up the Ebrake ![]() Step 2: remove trim peice around shifter ![]() Step 3: Remove the two screws at the back on the top part of the center consol and remove the top portion ( just give a tug and it pops loose) manuver it around the E-brake and set it to the side ![]() ![]() Step 4: Remove the two trim panels on either side of the radio they just pull off ![]() Step 5: Remove the two screws at the front of the lower portion and the two nuts in the storage compartment. Then pull the lower portion out and set it to the side aswell ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 6:Go to the outside of the car and lift into the air ( or slide under it ) and locate the bottom of the shifter you will find two yellowish/whitish clips for the one attached to the end of the shifter cable release the clip lock and push the tab up then use a prybar or screw driver to pry it loose. For the second clip I just put a pry bar behind it and pryed it out but I bought a replacement before hand just incase I broke it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Step 7: Lower the car back down and unclip the elctrical connector from the shifter and remove the two bolts at the front and the two nuts at the rear of the shifter and remove the shifter ![]() ![]()

Step 8: place the new shifter in its place and hand tighten the nuts and bolts the useing a torque wrench tighten them down to 80in-lbs in a crisscross pattern the torque specs are very important. Too tight could damage the shifter and/or break a bolt. plug the electrical connector back in and reinstall the center consol then get back under the car and hook up the shifter cable. Then test the shifter for proper operation and your good to go. I lan to add a hurst shifter knob tomorrow when it arrives.

ahh ok yeah once its in drive let go of the paddle and you can only ratchet up and down through the gears ... then to shift into nutral reverse or park you have to grab the paddle . and it loocks into ever one of those if you release the paddle
