Another Turbo Sc Question????
Im reading all this and at first i was sure i was going to get the whipple now i dont kno again!
But tell me this from lets say a zero to 60 stand point....what to go with, which would get you from zero to 60 or even 80 the fastest turbo or s/c and from what i understand the sc is for lower end to mid, and turbo is from mid to high, so wouldnt turbo have the edge bcuz if you have that much power on the lower end woudnlt you spend most of your time peeling out becaouse you cant get traction, where as with turbo the boost kicks in once you have a lil traction allready so wouldnt that be more effiecient?

I would say that it depends on your gears... Low gears like 3.55, go with a s/c since you'll be in the mid-hi rev's. Turbo for the 3.90's and up 'cuz you'll be in the hi end of your curve most of the time and that's where the turbo really shines. s/c= better low end torque. turbo=hi revin' fun.
But I'm no expert... So let's see what other posts you get here...

there are 2 different types of sc's. the centrifugal and the twin screw. the whipple is a twin screw and is better for low to mid rpm's. the centri like a paxton or vortec is better for the top end. both are belt driven. so if you are wanting more low to mid power go with the whipple. as far as getting traction that is a matter of fixing your car to get that traction. you should change out the LCA's for sure and a nice set of wide drag radials will help in a massive way. not being able to hook up from a stop can be fixed by upgrading suspension and learning what rpm to launch at.
as far as getting the turbo over the sc it is also all about what you are wanting. i don't know a lot about the turbo though, but with the technology today there is very little if any turbo lag. |
