Alarm system for convertible

Hey fellas, just wondrin as to how I can protect my mustang (gt vert) and every thing in it. I was reading a post about a proximity alarm but had no luck finding one or any details on one. I really want to do a couple things to the interior but cant until I figure this dilemma out, help would be much appreciated.

Thats pretty hard to answer, there are Many types of alarms out there for you to look into. the best thing for you to do is go to a Stereo/Alarm dealer that only deals in car audio and alarms,, I would never go to Circuit city or Best buy..Any big corp like those!
Alarms out there have many options available which includes Proximity! I believe my buddy has a Viper alarm unknown of the model but when Someone sticks their hand in the cab area when the top is down it will Pre-alarm to warn then go off if nobody moves away! its pretty cool... Remember you pay for what you get but dont need to go overboard on features. look into 2 way...

Good luck!

2 way alarms are good as they page you within a certain radius when someone or something is tampering with you car. Viper (or DEI) has a majority of them underneath there belt. As far as going into any big corps its all up to you just remember that all places are the same its the installers that make a difference. I work at best buy as an installer and Ive been doing it for about 5 years now. No company offers the Proximity sensor that you are looking for built in it is extra. I have hooked them up in Mustangs and other Drop tops to where when someone puts there hand inside that the alarm goes off and the top or sunroof retracts to close. There are many ways to do it and you can also set it to where if someone is within a certain distance from your car that it will set it off. So, just look around and ask people that you know of a good place they have went to to get there alarm installed. Also, check out http://www.directed.com/, this is the main website of Directed who make Viper, Clifford, and alot of other brands.

I had the same dilemma. I ended up getting the Ravelco installed (www.ravelco.com) for protection against stealing the whole car. I figure no matter what you do, you' can't protect everything in it with it being a drop top. I'm going to see if my installers can strengthen the center storage area and put a lock in it.

I like Viper (it's in my Tahoe) and I actually have been considering getting it in the mustang just for the doors, hood and proximity. I'd just have them skip the engine kill since nothing is better than revelco for that.
