Anyone switched to a duckwing rear spoiler?

My question is... does the trunk have to be painted if I remove the factory spoiler on my '05 and replace with the duckwing?

I assume that the duckwing would use the existing holes, is this correct? Changing the spoiler is not first on my list of priorities but my buddy just bought an 07 V6 and likes my spoiler much better than his. He's offered to go in halves with me on the duckwing and he'll get mine...

Anyone familiar with the duckie?

Also, he said that the local dealer could get it for $300 which seems to be what most ads advertise it for in the car mags. Does that sound about right?

Sorry... 3 questions in 1, but you guys ROCK at helping out us newbies.

no you do not have to paint the trunk lid.

as for the holes. some ducktails reuse the holes, some dont. some COVER the hole, and some BARELY cover the hole. thats where ya gotta do research and call the companies, like CDC or Street Scene or Xenon and find out about their application with their ductail and how it mounts.

You can get a ducktail for a little cheaper than $300, just search the boards or search some performance shops, you'll find one cheaper.

let me know which ductail your interested in and I'll help ya out as best as I can, I look at the 25+ vendors I have saved on my favorites and find the best price for you.

Thanks man! I need to get a closer look at the different ones b/c it sounds like there are some subtle differences in the different brands. Is the board you're referring to on this site? I've mostly just been in the forum area.

I know the one on the GT 500's are about what I'm looking for...

I have the Cervini ducktail on my 06. As with most, they attach with 2 sided tape. The Cervini design also lets you attach the original screws,,as their design completely covers the factory holes.
