racing a ricer
Hey my buddy and I are going to race, he has a STI putting out around 350 to the wheels and I'm putting about 430 to the wheels, here is the question, should I go for a roll out or from a dead stop, he has the all wheel drive but I know I have a crap load of torque on his ass. He said I can make the decision, anyother rules you guys suggest?

go from a dig.
he will jump out in front but your tq. will make up for it a lot quicker than if you were going from a roll.

you're gonna get raped out the whole. but you should catch him by mid 3rd gear. That is, if you can drive.

Take him from a stop. If ur rollin he will have his turbo spooled up already. Hope that he has problems hookin and u wont have a problem.

yeah the all wheel drive is the only thing I'm worried about its not a quarter mile race so I should be able to catch him by third gear

You may have a ton of torque on him but if you cant put that to the ground you might be in some trouble! Dont stomp it and overpower the road and you should be fine.....A guy I work with drives a AWD EVO 9 and he said its the hardest thing he has ever tried to launch......so hope he bogs it and you leave his ass!LOL

Give him false hope then snatch it away. I always hated that, still do.

wondering how the race went...i would have gone from a minimal 10 roll...just from experience with traction...

Well the race went rough, but american muscle managed to hang on. You were all right about the start he toasted my ass off the line and if it had been a quarter mile race he would have beat my ass. Also it was a little wet outside as well.
He had a newer turbo on the damn thing and it didn't take that long to spoil up. The two straits are what saved me he took off, I caught up and then he would pull ahead on the turns, the last half mile was scary as hell finishing at 160 with the hood shaken, I'm going to buy hood pins now. I have pictures of him cleaning my tires, the bet, and I'll post them later. Thanks for the advice gents.
