livernois stage 2 head fail?


While I wait for livernois to call me back, here we go. i was installing my Kooks L/T this morning and looky what i found in the exhaust ports...oil.

2000 miles on these heads..and in case we forget..these were the third set of heads shipped to me last year.

What do you guys think...this normal?













only 2 cylinders look dry, but thats from lookin up from the floor...so i dont know.

could be leaky valve guides or the piston rings didn't seat properly allowing blow by

The motor was also built by Livernois right? There have seem to be more and more cases with problematic parts built by Livernois lately. Here's a thread on S197 where the shit hit the fan..

Actually the motor was "built" by some tuner guy in canada that then dynoed it at a whopping 310hp, but hey it was sae corrected so i guess thats all a 298ci 3v can do.


Get the headers on and stop squaking canuck.

Seems to me that if you had valve guide or valve guide seal problems then you would get some smoke out of the tail pipe on start up and the spark plugs would build up a nasty ash or worse oil foul.

Ken's tuner is Techmotion though, a tuning shop in Canada that is very notorious for blowing up engines.

okay here are some pics of the heqders i took off and a plug.

Also I put my finger up in the wxhaust port and on all the cylinders where the valve is closed....there is a POOL of oil around the valve...i mean a pool....the cylinders that have open valves were dry.....so what do you think of that?

anyway , look at my wideband and the inside of my headers....whatsthat grey powdery stuff? My pistons?
