Question about lowering springs and need for adj. LCA's
So confused!!!
I'm ready to lower my '06 coupe and after many hours of searching the web and talking to a few shops, my head hurts! If I want to moderatly lower the car (about an inch) all the way around, do I need new struts/shocks? I've heard both yes and no. What would I giving up if I don't replace the struts and shocks? I've also heard that due to the lower stance the pinion angle will be off which will result in wheel hop when I launch from a standing start and premature joint failure on my driveshaft. This would require adjustable LCA's some say, other say balony. Can anybody clear the air here???????????? Parts, part supplier and shop recommendations are welcomed.

ok, im no pro, but heres my two cents,
I am planning the same as you, lowering and such. First question, do you have the money for new shocks/struts? Second, with the upgrade in your stangs ride height, why not upgrade your ride quality too? Ive read on various sites about them advertising about that hurting launches, and buy our LCA's to cure it. With just an inch of drop, I dont believe you would have a problem leaving factory shocks/struts, but you probably wont have the same ride quality. I do not know of it, but I'm pretty sure that you will need an upper control arm to help it out, even Steeda says that dues to the geometry of lowered cars, the pinion angle needs correction, using their tubular upper control arm fixes this...P.N. 555-4096 $124.95 (can probably find cheaper than the Steeda site) it says to only use it on lowered cars, due to the change in pinion angle. I am putting CHE upper and lower control arms on mine and using H&R supersports springs 1.7f/1.9r to lower it, and also adding Tokico shocks/struts for the ride quality..... P.N. 555-8215/16 , or for Ultralite Springs (same lowering) P.N. 555-8206 If I helped you out here, good, if I confused you more, I'm Sorry... I hope I helped you out on this.... |

springs new alignment struts Lower control arms lower control arm relocation brackets panhard bar & brace if you continue to have wheel hop after this combination, the add a upper control arm

It's not so much about the money, I just want to do it once and do it right. Not interested in having a bone jarring ride. I would like to keep it as close to stock ride quality as possible while lowering the car just enogh to close some of the tire/wheel lip gap.
I can get the eibach kit with struts and springs for about $560. If I need to add the adj. lower control arms I will. I saw a nice set at MRT. I think they were going for $225. They have offset bushings to avoid the need for relocation brackets. Anybody have any comments/experience with this part? Just curiuos Modern_Muscle, why are you going with different manufacturers for your springs and struts ?

Contrary to what a lot of people think, jsut because one company is good at building LCA's, doesnt mean another company doesnt make a better version the first company's UCA's.
CHE makes great products, and Ive heard great reviews of them. Their LCA's have an integrated holder for the Parking Brake line, as well as the option of being painted to match to your car. CHE makes great CA's and braces. Tokico makes great struts/shocks, and springs is a toss-up, so I think I am going with H&R, heard great things about them too. Its like anything else out there...put it like car audio, Company A make badass subs, but their mids and coaxles are not as great as Company B, Company B;s mids are great, but their tweeters arent as good as Company C's, and neither are their subs to A, or amplifiers to Company D's...and so on. Every Company shines in a particular product(s), no company makes the absolute best of everything, at least, not yet Do you get what Im shooting at, or have I confused you more??? Hope I helped you.
