steeda shifter
anyone know where to find a tri ax for less than 260. that's the cheapest I could find. seems pretty steep to me.

Totally worth the money. If I had to pick the one weak spot on my car as it sits stock, it would be the shifter. I'm sure we all know about the 3rd gear woes with the stock shifter.

What is the problem with the 3rd gear on the stock shifter? I've slammed my gears to hell and back for the last 2200 miles and haven't had any problems... hell 3rd has always landed itself, Maybe I got lucky

Maybe. Give that a shot while power shifting and tell me how ya feel. lol
3rd can be a bitch to find with the factory shifter when rowing the gears hard, especially if you try to pick up 3rd while cornering. |

I don't wanna bust my tranny, you mad
... for me Third is the easiest shift aside from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th... I kinda just controll it by the way it pulls to the center. And, well, I drive twisties all day so I'm constantly shifting on corners... its fun.

Trust me, when you get slamming it hard, 3rd can become a bitch. Although it's possible your car behaves better than others.

I gess, you respect the car, the car respects you... I babyed it for the first 1000 miles, after that I've been slaming gears @ 5800 RPMS

You say you have 2000 miles on your car? If so, maybe you will start seeing your shifter flub the occasional 3rd gear. If not, perhaps your car doesn't act up as much as some of them do.
Most of us respect our cars plenty. But there is no doubt that an aftermarket shifter is far better than the factory piece. |

I know, I'm thinking of an aftermarket shifter, but for now, I'm consentrating more on performance... since I can barely buy anything right now... and one question though, can the shortshifter use the stock knob... I kinda like it.

Thanks, that was my main consern since all shortshifters i've seen have a different knob which had kept me away.

Yup, just make sure when you purchase a shifter that you verify it can use your factory knob. Most shifters I have seen allow you to use your factory one, or the after market one.

yeah well I definately have had some third gear shifts that just went to shit. I've been driving manual for a long time and just sometimes when I'm shifting really fast through the gears third slips and it makes a nice grinding noise haha. It doesn't happen all the time but every now and then so I definately want to get a new shifter. I didn't have any problems with this until like 4 or 5k miles on my car so let me know if your car is still running fine around then
