another exhaust question after hours of searching
i posted in the wrong forum before....
just looking for some opinions on this set up...honestly, i'm not a gearhead i don't know much about cars & engines, i've just always been a mustang enthusiast. I owned an 89 5.0 back in Highschool for about a year but couldn't afford keeping it maintained due to the street race factor and a minimum wage pizza hut salary. Now a little older and mature i want to keep my 07' in good shape for a long time. It's my daily driver and just looking for a good deep, loud sound. So here's my idea...do i need anything else? MAC 2.5'' Direct Fit Pro Chamber to Stock Catalytics with the Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-Back Exhaust Trying to keep it around $500-600 range for right now |

$245 for flowmasters and about $300-400 for the midpipe (depending if you want an offroad or bolt to stock cats)

thanks. well i've read that the mustangs stock exhaust is a good unrestricted flow. Is changing the h-pipe out gonna make a big enough difference to even worry about it?

8HP if you switch to an offroad H-Pipe/x-pipe, dyno tested by Brenspeed.
5HP with just about any axleback exhaust.

ok...after waiting a while and reading some more i've narrowed it down to the mac prochamber with the flows or the prochamber with the SLP loudmouths.
stock Cats will have to stay. which setup will be the best do ya'll think? |

the slp loudmouths and an frpp x-pipe make the sound great if you are behind it. it's loud, but still will have the factory cats. the best thing is with the x-pipe the drone is all but gone. with just the slp's it is pretty loud, but there is a lot of drone while on the highway.

Good deep and loud eh?
Any H, yes H pipe, and Flows or SLP An H pipe gives more deepness and throatiness to the exhaust on these. An X pipe can take away some drone, but not be as deep I my self am running Mac Longtubes, Bassani Stainless X, and Flowmaster Super 40s. My cats are gutted (makes it a lil raspy on cold starts) But, when I go to the track, I jsut unbolt my cats, and have open headers, rather than installing cutouts. The Flows have a deep authoritative sound, performance oriented. SLP Loudmouths have a loud, you know Im here kinda sound... its your choice.

["psycho bob"] so you like the x-pipe sound? well i've definitely decided to go with the prochamber so deciding between x & h is over. now it's just the axle-back decision. and i think i'm choosing to go with the loudmouths. hopefully that will get me what i'm looking for.

Pypes off-road H and X pipes are great! whats soo cheap about them? Your getting SS pipping without the cats, and bolts to your stock system. I wouldn't think thats cheap. sounds like a good price! now if there were Pypes hi flow cats on them, then the price would surely go up another $300+
I recommend them! |
