Wheel offset?

I know it's a subject that has been beaten to death and I've searched many many forums, but have not found what I am looking for. I'm wanting to put 17x10 or 17x10.5 in wheels on my GT. Only I cant seem to find the offset information that I need. From what I have found everyone that is running 18's-20's with a 10in. wheel it looks to be that their offset is 45-47mm. Now my question is with running the above mentioned wheel size I'm wanting to run will the off set be the same 45-47mm? If so... does anyone know where I can find those size of rims with that offset? All I have been able to find have been with a 27mm offset which would be for the 99-04 mustangs.

All help is appreciated.

J

I purchased a wheel guide recentley - it says the correct offset for the S197 is 35-42mm. I got my rims from www.wheelmax.com

Mine are +24 and they still nearly poke out of the wheelwell. The wheel is a 17x9 and the tires are 255/50's. I'm guessing that you'd have to have a really large + offset to fit the rubber. The shop that replaced my panhard told me I didn't have enough lip clearance to lower the car.
