Vinyl Decals
I got a question.
I want to put GT stripes on my 07 BAD! I saw a set on e-bay for less than $100. What I want to know from someone who has done this before, is how hard are they to take off if say one day you get tired of them? I cringe at the thought of pulling off this sticker and pulling paint. Oh yea, one more question. Does anyone know of an online supplier for these types of decals? Mike |

Definitely go with Baltimore Street Mods and call Rob. The reason I'm saying this is because, if you don't, you'll get a stripe kit designed to go under the factory hood scoop.
I ordered mine from Rob and he sent a little extra material so that the stripes will go over the hood scoop. It won't pull paint if you should ever pull them off. As a matter of fact, I liked mine (traded my 07 GT on GT500) because inevitably your going to have rock chips, etc. on your bumper from driving. The stripes will probably absorb a fair percentage of these rock chips and protect the paint. |

dont even think about doing it yourself, but you're looking at about $400 for installation.

Those are some sweet looking stripes!
No where near as expensive as I was expecting. A local shop here offered to do the stripes for $150 if I supplied them. This is the route I will go. Now for the next question, gloss or matte? |

I put my stripes on myself (well, my dad and I did it). Took us probably about 2 hours to get everything measured out, and then lay the stripes down and get all the bubbles out. I had put stripes on my last car, and some pretty elaborate vinyls on my brother's '04 Stang, so I had some knowledge/experience. But it's up to you...

I'm trying to think of something I could mark out the car with that wouldn't damage the paint. Looking at the scoop it looks like the easiest part to cover. |

Yes, I measured out the length of each stripe segment, and the width, decided how far apart I wanted them, marked everything off with blue painter's tape, and laid the stripes down. I used a spray bottle of soapy water, soaked down the car surface and the vinyl, laid it on, once I had it where I wanted it, I took a hair dryer and squeegee to it.

When I did mine I measured and put masking tape just outside the stripe for allignment also use some soapy water under the stripe to keep it from sticking too quickly as you are aligning it. the soapy water will squeegee out with the bubbles. It is easy once you develop the technique. A good thing to practice before you actually do your own. Work with the smallest pieces first to see if you can do it before tackling the big hood pieces.Prioritize what is going to be the hardest and the most visible before you start. Good luck.
