Will a CAI and Tune compromise the engine realiability?

Good evening all,

Newbie question I'm sure. I just bought my first Mustang. It's an 07 GT with a 5-speed!! Man it's fun to drive. Anyways, I have been educating myself on mods, and maybe getting closer to my first mod. I want to add a CAI and Tune. I have about 2500 miles on my Mustang. My question is, will a CAI and Tune comprimize the long term dependability of the motor? This is also my daily driver, and what to make sure it doesn't cut the overall "life " of the motor.

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

Thanks for your help!!

+1 on getting your tuner from doug at bamachips. the jlt and c&l are vertually giving the same gains with a tuner. however the jlt is like $75 cheaper. if you get the tuner from him he will give you free tunes for all minor bolt ons. by minor i mean pretty much everything except a turbo, sc, or nitrous. the jlt and sct combo is $550 from him. he'll give you 3 different tunes with the purchase. here's the link:

The only way that a tune could hurt your engine is if the Tuner made the tune to lean, running lean is the only way to permanently damage the engine. Now there are safe guards built-in to the PCM to prevent this.

Now a CAI could allow Water to enter the engine if you submerged the drivers front side in water or if you have a loose fitting on the filter that will allow dirt to enter the intake. those are the only ones I can come up with right now..

The two Best CAI's are the C&L with the SCT Tuner and the JLT II with the SCT Tuner. both were rated the tops in HP gains and quality by Fast Fords & Muscle Mustangs Mag and 5.0 Mag.

Also, a CAI Will not Void any warranty except the Stock intake and MAF Sensor. if your engine blows the dealer MUST prove the CAI did the deed,
and that my friend is the Magnuson Moss Act.
