Front License Plate Bracket?

Since I live in the great state of New York I am forced to mount a license plate on the front of my beautiful stang. Since I bought my car in PA I stopped by the local dealer here in NY to ge a bracket for the front bumper and they said there is no such thing for an 07 GT. They say you just screw the thing into the dimples on the front of the bumper. I'm a little concerned that the plate is going to hang down low enough to block some air from hitting the intercooler. Any suggestions or is there no reason for the concern?

We are required to have a front plate in Illinois as well. I assure you I am not putting one on my stang.

Regarding your air blockage question, you'll be fine, it won't affect things all that much.

Check out MossMustang.com they sell a bracket that clamps down (rather than screws in) to the lower part of the front bumper. It also goes to the side so it doesnt obstruct air flow to the radiator. I cant vouch for the quality, cause I live in Indiana, where we dont require a front plate. But saw it in one of my catalogs I get ( which is free and has some cool stuff... )

You only need the front plate to pass inspection. After that you can take it off (i'm not sure if the cops CAN give you a ticket but most times they would not)

words of experience:

Cops can give u a tix for it, and they can use it as a reason to pull u over... i recieved a tix for it and have been pulled over 3 different times for this reason.

Ford made brackets for the front lic. on 05 and 06. i dont know if 07 is different but why would it be? the bracket screws into the bottom and holds ur plate up like that...

F(*& that law. The dealer put 2 bolts into my front bumper for our nebraska front plate. The plate is in my trunk. I dont care how many times I get pulled over. Front pates are a waste of tax payer money and makes the stang look BAD. Cops just wave at me here.

My plate is on the floorboard behind the front seat and has been for the 8 month's I have had my 07 GT. At the dealer, when I picked up the plates they put on the rear one and then when we saw the two little marker dimples for HOLES in my bumper, the kid putting on the plate's even asked me if he had to do it because it looks like crap.
Texas supposedly requires the front plate, no one at any time has had a problem or even noticed it not being there, because it shouldnt be! I can produce it in a second if asked by the police, and at least here in Texas so far so good. :wink

bolted them to the holes the dealer had put in the bumper... you can see the cooler (black) for the s/c in front of the radiator

I look at it this way. You could get stopped in a nasty cop city maybe 2-3 times a year tops for no front plate. Lets say all of them give you a ticket. That total is maybe 100$ a year. You are willing to give up 100$ a year to put a flat steel, ugly, non-aero-dynamic peice of state required garbage on the front end of one of the most beautiful muscle car front ends EVER ?

75.00 a pop here in illinois. that's 225.00 a year using your time a year stopped ratio t-dog.

Generally we get offered a compliance ticket, which I think is worse. They give you 30 days to get the car in compliance with the law. You have to physically go to the PD and show them you put your plate on. If it checks out okay, no fines. If you don't show, you'll get a court date and the judge will decide what the fine is.

As I said earlier, I won't be putting my plate on. no chance I'm punching holes in my cervinis bumper. I'll take the tickets if they write em, but I'm finding if you act civil when talking to them, they tend to offer warnings or nothing.

the plate is a flimsy POS... my 3yr old could bend it in half.... I did push it up against a plastic tub that is in the front of the garage. I have to get a frame so it looks better.... just haven't had time I tried to bend it back and it just would bend on another part...... and I took the pics in rush when I finished the bracket installation.

Where we cruise on Sunday's there is always a state trooper and he gives tickets for front plates all the time......

BTW... who knows who's looking @ this stuff.... no reason to give up any more info by posting my plate #.... too many trouble makers on the net.....

All right, I have looked everywhere I can think of and I cannot find a bracket for the front bumper to hold the plate. Anybody got any leads? I refuse to jerry rig some hideous mess on the front of my stang! There's got to some kind of universal bracket out there.

I like the dealers screws....they rusted right away, now the plates have the rally rust stripes. I took the front one off to clean it but the stripes are still there, I got pulled over and told the orificer I was going to the store to get some stainless steel screws. I knew he was going to sitting in the same place on my return trip so I decided to put the front plate on in the store parking lot.
Yeah, he was there on my way back and I felt smug driving past him then he put on his lights and pulled me over again. I was about to get pissed until I seen he had a plate in his hand. He just hands it to me and said it fell off the back. (I forgot to tighten them after I tried to clean that plate) Someone ran it over before he got to it so I had to get another, I just could not put the old one back on. The 2 weeks I waited I never got pulled over.

I hate the front plate, it looks stupid.
