Opinion
So I'm looking to buy a new Mustang GT probably close to the summer. So my question is.....Which would be better in the long run? Manual or Automatic?
I'm having trouble deciding on this. I like manual cars better, I like to be in control of the car and constantly doing something. On the other hand will I grow tired of it and want a automatic? |

You wont grow tired of shifting, it becomes second nature. I dont even realize Im shifting. Before long you wont be looking at the tach anymore either. Take my word for it. Buy the manual. ( plus, people wont give you shit over buy a automatic sports car ( with the exception of 10 sec and faster cars ) )

more hardcore stang lovers prefer the manual, I think. Not knocking the auto, mind you

if i were you, i'd wait till later in the year so you could either get a brand new '08 or get a nice discount on an '07 model..
as far as transmissions go, what kind do you have now? i personally LOVE manual over auto.. i drive my suburban about 10 times more than i drive my mustang or turbo thunderbird (the t-bird and stang are manual) and everytime i drive the suburban, if im sitting uphill at a red light, and i let off the brake, i always give it gas expecting it to roll backwards lol.. sometimes when im ready to "shift" i also slam on the brake expecting to push in the invisible clutch on the suburban lol like said before, it will become second nature to you, and you will never regret it... |

Manual.
I own a business. Im on the road constantly. Put it this way I have 15000 on my stang, i got it in november. I drive everyday on the baltimore beltway. I Dont mind it. And, if for a minute, I thought i wish i had an auto. I just run it up through the gears once and that thought is gone. along with every other care in the world. I do talk on the phone a lot for business while driving that can be a pain but thats it. but i got a bluetooth. Shit cant hear on the phone anyway with my frpp gta's. Hey, the customer can wait till i get stoped somewhere. You got to have your priorities straight. |

Now for my two cents:
Having a mustang in automatic is like taking a shower in a raincoat. Driving a truck with a stick- a chore, a hassel. Driving a mustang GT with a stick, a shitload of fun. Hope I don't offend anyone, but I'd never own a muscle car that was an automatic. |

Stick all the way brutha! Trust me, the very first time some jerk off ricer pulls up next to you at a light blaring his fart can, and you effortlessly respond with your 8-cylinder symphony through your dual exhaust you'll wonder how you ever considered an automatic (which would require you to shift into neutral to rev !BLEH!)
Need more of a reason? Well the next time you spot a hottie eyeballing your ride you can simply execute my patented 3-step manuever. Step #1 Depress Clutch Step #2 Depress and release gas pedal in rapid sucession Step #3 Wink and motion to nearest parking area for her further inspection

ya i say manual all the way man.
I have an automatic and i got it because i live in L.A. and im always in horrible traffic and i live in a hilly area. I kind of regret it now though. I do have a question...is it possible to convert to manual? If so how extensive is it? |

I have to say manual also. As far as soreness goes. I have really bad knees and ankles. I just rolled my ankle around Chrismas and is still giving me problems(of course the left one). These hydraulic clutches are no where near what the old ones were. You don't have to eat your spinach to depress the clutch. lol
