Kenne Bell Dyno Numbers
412 RWHP @ 5700 rpm and 422 RWTQ @ 3800 rpm
It was 87 degrees in the shop and the car was pulling timing. It made 7.5 psi. Here is a video of the Quarter Mile Pass on Mustang Dyno The guy missed 3rd gear. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...oid=2022146380 |

jat, the number comes off low because it was tuned on a mustang dyno. Had it been on a dyno jet it would have like been 25 to 30 more horse to the north.

that was with 93 octane. The number is kind of low because of the dyno which the guys at MUSTANGDYNE said between 40 to 60 horsepower difference from DYNOJET. The car feels strong and as you can see from the video it is trapping 119.97 and the last 2 vehicles that came off that dyno ran almost identical e.t. and same mph. So i'm sure the car will trap 119-120 mph.

I had mine done on a mustang dyno....does that mean I have more than they said? What number can you actually believe and how can you really compare numbers if they differ by that much?

GT norm, typically everyone knows that the mustang dyno's read lower than most all other equipment. Like anything else, variables and differences in equipment are the reason why.
Since my first tune back at the ripe young age of 16, (34 now) it's been common knowledge amongst every tuner, and every enthusiast I met, that the Dyno numbers are only numbers, offering a general idea of where your at. If it's any consolation, I had my 07 gt tuned on a mustang dyno and it made 435hp / 429tq with my procharger on. I had the opportunity to make 2 passes on a dynojet dyno at a local shop open house, and the results were 461hp / 420tq. No changes to the car at all between the two sessions, yet two totally different numbers across the board. TQ going lower on the dyno jet, but HP going up. |

Emay...mine came in at 375 on the mustang dyno and if you add 25 or more hp to that I am over 400 which really sounds a whole lot better and is actually a goal I want to achieve. I met a guy with the same roushcharger as mine and he claimed his dynoed at 412 .At the time I thought I got screwed on mine but now I guess it was just a different dyno. You would think they would have standards and calibrations to make them all accurate and the same output. I pretty much lost faith in a dyno unless you are comparing some vehicles from the exact same dyno. Thanks for enlightening me Emay. Norm

Norm, no problem. I've been down the same road obviously.
I constantly run into people with the same feeling, as well as guys that brag about their numbers. I prefer being the sleeper honestly. Using the Mustang Dyno numbers when people ask. Especially if they were on a dyno jet and start quoting numbers 50 to 75hp higher than mine. It' all in how you look at it. I bet if you ran the guy pushin 412, you'd be right with him the whole way. |

Emay...I asked the guy where and when he bought it and I actually took his car for a test ride before buying mine. His didn't have leather so I waited and got another. His had 17inch wheels and seemed to get less traction. I got the 18" fan blades and I think they hook up better . All in all they seemed to run about the same.Does anyone know if wheel diameter can actually change the horsepower at the rear wheels or does it just change the way it hooks up? Norm

Norm, absolutely wheel diameter can affect your planted power. Two things are actually causing issues with larger wheels. Weight difference, and the rotational resistance caused in the larger diameter.
Many will tell you that you can feel it in the seat of the pants, without even seeing it in an official dyno number. I know I could with my switch from the stock 18's to the new 20's. |
