my track opens today :D

my track opens today. I'm pretty excited because I have never run before. any tips on equipment I need to bring with me? I'm a little nervous because a couple years ago my buddy ran his talon out there at a 17.1 when it should have been low 15s (he got a really bad launch) and I have been giving him shit about it ever since and I don't wanna make the same mistake either way though I think its gonna b a lot of fun and I will post the times later today. my car is stock except for pypes violator axleback. and I'm running at 4700 ft so I'm hoping for low 14's

yeah are you spinning off the line. if so just don't launch at such a high rpm. you'll figure out after a few runs where you should launch at to keep it from bogging and also keep it from spinning to much.

that first run of the day turned out to be the best of the day. I was running at 4700 ft with 100 percent humidity at about 50 degrees. what kind of effect would that have on my times? also is 95 mph about right for high 14's. I was also runnin on 275/40/18 street tires so traction a problem. I just thought my car was faster. maybe I'm just a really bad driver. the only part of the day that made me feel better was other cars that were in my class like a stock sti, with exhaust only ran a best of 14.5 and a 350z bone stock ran 14.9 best.

Dang, either that kinda altitude and cold temp has a HUGE effect, or those other drivers SUCK, particularly the STI, they can run 13 seconds flat with a good driver in good conditions at sea-level.

OK I am convinced that it is the altitude that is keeping me out of the 13's. So I am gonna drive all the way down to southern california so I can get on a track near sea level instead of 5000' ft up. If im still in the 14s there then I will admit defeat as being a shitty driver and just practice practice practice. Anyway my question is does anybody know what tracks are in southern california and the website or contact info for the track so I can plan a trip down to redeem myself?

Thanks

Adam
