2006 Mustang 3000rpm Launch Shutdown
Ok, we have previously launched successfuly from 2500 rpm's and got the stock 0-60 which is 5.9 seconds to 5.47 ( sat down and did the math ) after a 62mm throttle body and a k&n cold air intake. As seen here:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/D...AFD5B3BB56.htm So we said why not try a 3000 rpm launch, well we did it at 3000 but the tires spun because traction control was off and the speedometer went to twenty when we were at 0. As seen below: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...BCE8A69B8E.htm Before I get to my next point how would I calculate this if possible. ( its hard to tell from the video I know ) Ok now to the topic title. We said ok lets try 3000 with traction control on, so we start bringing it up to three and once it hits it the the rpms just shut down, and go straight to idle and shows in yellow an image of tires spinning. Heres the video: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/0...B7A189F33F.htm It's an auto and we just did nutueral to 1's then 2nd 3rd. I was wondering if anyone knew what the solution is and how to override this without damaging the car. Thanks for reading ... Nick |

you shouldnt be dropping it from neutral to gear in an auto. for an appropriate launch, place left foot on brake, right foot on gas, and slowly build rpms to your converter limit before spinning. if you want a higher launch, get a higher converter so you dont mess up the transmission.

dont do that. thatll only last so many times! do what ab said itll work better than dropping it into forst and your car will last a lot longer to!

if the computer sense tire slip it will pull the power and therefor it ill bog down! turn off the traction control and press the brake and gas right up untill you get a good launch without spinning to much. and just experiment and see what works better for your car!

you probably have an X rpm converter that lets the transmission power through to the rear end and spin the tires at X rpm. if you have sticky tires, you can launch from a higher rpm. on my v6 with 4.10s and 315/35/17 street tires (12" wide out back), i spin if i drop at anything over 1k rpms.

haha I would just reccomend getting a manual because then you are in total control of your rpms and gears.

No need to go manual, and automatic car prepped right can run great numbers.
Leave your traction control off, that's mandatory. The key in the launch of a stock automatic car is to get a very little bit of wheel spin. Reason is, if you do not, you will bog the motor. Too much traction is as bad as burnin off first gear entirely. Especially on a stock convertered trans. If you were to get a converter and a manual valve body, you can make life so much easier in launching. Not to mention your motor won't fall on it's face so badly with maximum traction. |

Leave the TCS off, practice which rpm to leave at that produces very little wheel spin, there is your answer. The problem is every surface is different so you may spend all this time on the street and come up with say 2600 rpm then when at the track you end up spinning the wheels off with that rpm launch. So practice more at your local track surface. |

No neutral drops lol, it never happended I use to be stupid. I know all this crap now. I think a translock will fix a launching prob for any new autos. Not to mention the new autos are proven to be faster than the sticks once modded.

I see plenty of modded autos come up short regularly to the manual. However the X factor is a good driver too. |

Personally I beat 5 speed v6's all day long. Dig and roll races. The automatic shoots out of the whole perfectly if I two step it and get into my torque band around 2000 rpms.
