First Time post with list of Mods
Hey guys. I am posting for the first time on MM but have been a long time reader and researcher of everything Mustang on the website. I have learned quite a bit from the topics and have been a Mustang fan since I was a kid.
So... to the point. I am on the cusp of buying a 2007 GT and putting on some serious modifications. I would like to know what you guys think --who knows better than you guys??? My goal is to save money from buying from the retail shops one of the kit cars (Saleen, Roush, etc.) and have something that drives, stops and handles faster! Here goes.... 1) Cervini "functional" Ram Air Hood 2) 14 " Brake Upgrade 3) 4.10 gears 4) Roush Supercharger 5) Traction control upgrade - undecided 6) Roush Supercharger (because of the warranty) 7) Tri-Ax short throw 8) Bassani Long Tube headers and exhaust 9) Steeda G-Trac Handling packages 1-3 10) Steeda Comp Front facia 11) 18/9 Front with 18/10.5 Rear wheels In your opinion anything stand out as a worthless investment? In my humble opinion this machine will fly and I will save 10K from doing all of this in a Mustang shop rather than paying through the nose for a Stage 3 or S-281. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

I am hoping by end of June. Trying to save up some money to make the purchase as pain free (monthly) as possible. I really like the Tungsten Grey and Cervini just came out with that new KR replica hood some some details may change.

Re: First Time post with list of Mods
1) Cervini "functional" Ram Air Hood -- Cool 2) 14 " Brake Upgrade -- Not if you're going to use smaller rims for racing. Upgrade to Hawk HPS pads and SS lines will increase braking performance. 3) 4.10 gears -- Bad idea with SC. Go 3:73 4) Roush Supercharger - Warranty is good, but power will be limited compared to a Whipple or KB. They carry warranties as well. By the way, Ford installs Whipples. 5) Traction control upgrade - undecided - Huh? Susp Mods? 6) Roush Supercharger (because of the warranty) -- Good idea to double the power. ![]() 7) Tri-Ax short throw -- Also consider Pro 5.0 or MGW. 8) Bassani Long Tube headers and exhaust -- Look for T-304 Stainless Steel products. Although the Bassani's can come coated, over time (could be a few years), the coating will start to peel off and they'll start to rust. Look at Kooks or American Racing Headers. Both top quality and excellent fit. Exhaust is up to the sound you want as it won't give you much if any performance gains. 9) Steeda G-Trac Handling packages 1-3 -- Steeda is overpriced. Consider BMR or Che instead. 10) Steeda Comp Front facia 11) 18/9 Front with 18/10.5 Rear wheels. Sweet Make sure you post some pics once you get the car delivered.

Thanks for the details SCRAMBLR and the total hp shouldn't come too close to 500 for it to adversely affect the engine...at least that is what I am being told by the installer.

sounds good...I have the Roush charger which I got before researching this site..I'm happy with it and it runs great, but if I had a do over I'd go whipple. You get used to the 415 hp which is only 375rwhp . As soon as you dyno it you want more.

I those are the mods you are looking for, dont even buy a GT. Since youre looking at well over 15000 in mods, just spend the extra change to get the GT500 and your work is basically done. Plus it adds resale value if you cant keep it.

Hmm, then you'd make history as one of the first persons to get a GT500 at MSRP.

No doubt! Well, sadly my skills do not involve the kind of negotiation capabilities to be able to get a GT500 for 45K. Plus, the sales guy I just talked to told me they were still getting 25K over sticker for the GT500 ( I live in Carrollton, Tx. - Dallas)
That may be a little high but according to the shop that will be building my car it will be able to stick it to anything being produced on the moded Mustang front. If it doesn't then it will after I find out it won't. One of stipulations/goals I had for taking on this investment is that the car I build would HAVE to beat the GT500 and for a shit load less money. I am pretty damn sure it will with some added tweaks (i.e. smaller pulleys and some weight reduction stuff like the aluminum drive shaft) So Scramblr you are right on- no fucking way a GT500 is selling for anything close to my total package. |

Out here in SoCal, the sticker on a GT500 is about 64K
Sweet mods though, definitely wanna see some pics. Some pics during install would be pretty sweet for those of us considering same mods...I was gonna go with the twin superchargers myself until everyone called you crazy.... And don't worry, if it's advice you seek then asking another Mustang owner will net you more than you'll need!

theres a GT500 red convertible with a black top and black on red interior here in Universal City selling for 72 g's. It's only about 40k more than a GT but if you can find one for "15,000" more than GT (which is BullCorn) then that would be an intelligent move (but will NEVER happen).
I think your doing the right thing by moddin' up bro.
