Shelby GT Mark-up?

Does anyone know if dealers are marking up prices on the '07 Shelby GT...the reason I'm asking cause a small local dealership is offering one @ $36,866 + Tax and tags. They claim that they will only have one available. They are holding a drawing 6/30/07 to pick a winner who can purchase the car at that price. This sounds like a gimmick to me just to get people to visit the lot.

What do you guys think?

I agree, sounds like a hoax. Im not all-knowing/omnipresent God but I think it is a GT with a GT-500 "appearance" package. We had a similiar auction but it had the gt engine and EVERYTHING else was cobra (kit, hood, seats, emblems etc.)....In fact the car auctioned for 38 to some noob.

I think it's real They are making a Shelby GT that isn't the GT500and for what it offers, I think 36k is alot of money but it does have the Shelby name...it's sort of like the Shelby Hertz setup. There was an article on here about it some time ago...check the archives

I dont know, on ebay the cheapest 07 Shelby GTs are for 39900, so it might actually be worth checking into.

Its not the GT500, its the Shelby GT, just like the ones they make for Hertz. Exact same car except for the H at the end of the name (Shelby GT-H)

The shelby GT has the normal 3V 4.6! It has a package on it that makes it 325 hp but nothing more than that! Just google 07 Shelby GT and it will come up with specs!

The GT500 is the one that everyone is marking up. It has an MSRP of approximately $42,000 and dealers are marking them up to $65,000-$70,000. Its a bunch of bullshit. I can't believe Ford is letting dealers get away with this when it is surely turning away sales. I'd have one in my garage right now if it wasn't for the dealers $20,000+ mark up. Ford is bankrupt and these dealers are costing them a ton of money.
