Nitrous anyone???

Hey, I have an 07 GT with K&N CAI and Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers. My question....Should I put nitrous on it? I was going to but I was advised that because the 4.6 uses a plastic upper plenum it was very likely I could blow it off the engine if it backfired! Is this true??!! Anyone out there runnig NOS on a 05 or newer? HELP ME!!

hey...yeah im running nitrous on a 06 gt....as long as you dont push it too hard(dont do more then a 100 shot) you will be fine...just my sure you get all the right parts to keep it safe...like a window switch, saftey switch, and if its a WOT (wide open throttle) you dont really need those things but they are recommeded...if you have any more questions just let me know...and im running a edelbrock plate system that uses fuel and N20 w/a 50 shot and it is fine...the new engine are strong as long as you do it right...remember rpm's blow engines not horsepower.

You are good to 125 on the 2007. I know because I just put mine on. I will destroy nearly 99% of anything that rolls up next to me..... Including you if you stop at 100.

yeah you can run a 125 shot but im just going w/ what i have done...it is worth it.

im also going to have throttle body, underdrive pullies, and other mods but nitrous is a good mod to get quick power

i was looking at ZEX from Summit (100 HP shot) with a bottle heater.

i wonder how much HP the stock fuel pump can accommodate? i see a lot of guys upgrade to a GT500 pump when making big power (super charger/Turbo, N2O). i'm not a fan of "helper" pumps (for EFI).

running spark plugs 1 step colder is prolly a good idea.

whatever you get, make sure it's a wet system for EFI.

i assume you have a custom tune with those upgrades. if so, i would retard the global timing a few degrees. not sure if timing for WOT is separate. advance the timing too much, or lean out the mixture and you risk detonation, which can kill a motor. stock tune would be ok with the stock air intake. as soon as you swap air intakes or just take out that carbon filter for that matter...

can't see the pic? here
you'll prolly end up with a lean condition. (C&L have a "no tune" intake)

if you have a tuner that will report/save A/F ratio data, take it for a spin to check it. it's harder for a fuel pump to work when your accelerating down the road than when your accelerating on a dyno. if you don't have a way of checking the A/F ratio, i'd get a mechanic to plug in and monitor your cars vital signs on the street.

Thanks guys...heres somthing off topic. I was out tonight and got up beside an 03 gt...he was turbo charged...I could hear it!! We nail it off the lights and I roast him bad!! We do this twice then he comes up and is pissed off asking me if I have a pro charger??? Are 03's really that slow or what?? Cause later on I got my ass handed to me by a nissan 300ZX.

Bottom line...I need to go faster.

nitrous is good power after you have other mods....i would suggest to do other mods first before nitrous....throttle body, underdrive pullies, super charger, full exhaust, and if you want to go real crazy get a new cam...but nitrous is a good way to get quick horse power like i sadi before...if theres anything just pm me

I'm running the ZEX kit with a 125... 4.10's, cold air, axlebacks, UD pulleys, and SCT tune (4 deg out for timing on the shot) bottle pressure at 950...I'm good for 386 rwhp and 498 ft/lb...check out my dyno runs at http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x...t=MOV00769.flv

Input/Comments/Suggestions Appreciated...

sick runs man how is she on the street/track?
on the dyno a/f readings, is higher richer? what were your numbers?

kudos for uploadin the vids

found the ZEX kit at BamaChips for $565 as i write this.
Nitrous Express has a 3 valve plate system that look pretty slick, but i wonder if the solenoids are replaceable?
NOS has one that goes up to 75 HP (not enough dammit! lol)

after market is really starting to pump out products for us, it's spring , life is good

I have not had a chance to take her to an "official" track...hehehe...I do know that I have been up against a S197 with bolt-ons and full exhaust...whipped that car on the bottle by approximately 7-8 car lengths...took on a SN95 body with bolt-ons, exhaust, gears...no juice just straight motor and beat him by 7-8 car lengths...finally went against a SRT4 with full bolt ons, turbo, etc...no bottle (they were beggin' me not to spray...hahaha) just motor from a 40 roll...he pulled me by 1-2 car lengths...stopped and then ran from a 20 roll...I pulled him by about 1-2 car lengths...I know this post is not very good without videos...so here they are...hahaha

My "vs. SN95" runs are here:

FIRST RUN AT 30 ROLL

SECOND RUN FROM A DIG

My "vs. SRT4" runs are after the Z06 vs. Camaro runs here:
