i wish...i assumed it would be high, around 6,000-7,000 for me and 4,000-5,000 under my moms name...im in shock...thats disgusting. How can they charge that much money? I'd be buying about 2-3 GT's in insurance alone in 5 years. If i had that kind of money I would have bought a GT500. I don't even know what to do about it...i know brooklyn has the highest insurance rates in the nation but thats an ass raping, i obviously can't afford that. I called all state, geico, and progressive and it was all around the same price

All State wanted 17,500 Geico wanted 18,000 and Progressive wanted 14,400...for full coverage. I averaged it out to about 16,000. It's completely absurd

and i forgot to mention, i've never had an accident and i've never even been pulled over. I guess i'll get it insured under my moms name and have her leave me off the policy and drive as an uninsured motorist. This way if anything happens the insurance will cover it. I'm going to have her call tomorrow and get a quote. I hope its under 3,000

Hey PiggySmallz,
I happen to be an agent in CO. Damn, I thought our rates here were high!!! Not sure of the laws in NY. But if you live with your mom and are not rated on any autos, they can deny any claim if you drive any auto in the household. They can get you for undisclosed household member. Here in CO, if you live in the household you are rated or excluded. Just beware, I would hate to see you end up no coverage. Just a friendly heads up. You will also need to make sure your mom's name is on the title, very few companies here will insure an auto titled in someone else's name. Just really be carefull, the one thing I have heard of NY is the insurance fraud is huge part of the high rates. Make sure you are not crossing that line up there. They really look for anything to deny a claim.

yea the guy told me that brooklyn has the highest insurance rates in the nation and i'm in a high risk pool. I live in a very nice area however about 30 blocks down where you cross the highway its not so great. That factors into it i'm sure. The car would be titled under my mom's name and the agent said another reason why the rates are so high here is the uninsured motorist policy. I would be covered under my moms name, but if i did get into an accident they would automatically add me to her policy and both her rates and mine would sky rocket. I need to look into it more and see what I can do. I don't want to make matters worse for myself or my mom. Until then, I'll just keep saving money for this car. I've been dreaming of owning one since 2005, i'm almost there. I'm hoping to get it resolved by my birthday in July. So hopefully I'll be posting pictures soon

Its a ripoff that insurance companies rate us on where we live, what we do for a living and other private information that has nothing to do with our driving abilities and driving record. It used to be good drivers got good rates, but not anymore.
