Which is a better bang for the buck?
I'm torn between two choices for my next mod, I've got about $550 and am trying to decide between a tuner/intake combo from doug or a set of 4:10 gears. both of these mods are gonna be in the same total price range but which is the better bang for the buck? Or do I have to do the tuner first so that I can change the gear ratio in the cpu when I do get the gears? Thanks guys.

I really don't know, but I curenlty have a tune and the 4.10's. The tune was first and I noticed a lot more fun. Then, I added the 4.10's and had even more fun! You can't go wrong with either.

Bro from my PERSONAL experience, I have both a tune and 410s and alls I know is from what ive been STRONGLY recommended is that you DEFINITELY need a tune with 410s :wink IMO would do the tune/intake 1st

hey thanks for the input guys, I was leaning towards the tune and intake. I plan on putting nitrous on by the end of summer as well. would 4:10 be alright with 100 shot? I know there is a debate about 4:10 and super/turbo charging, does the same debate appy to nitrous too?

Some guys think with all the power you get with a S/C or turbo, the 4:10's wind up the engine too quickly. Professional racers run 4:10's or steeper with much more power than a lot of S/C'ed or turboed street guys run, and they do just fine. It just takes setting up your suspension properly, using a good drag tire, and lots of practice shifting to work with the 4:10's once you have all that power.

ok, well I think im gonna stick with the 4:10/nitrous combo and see how it works out. I was gonna go with the jlt intake, I thought I read somewhere that it has a nitrous boss already built into the intake, is this true or am i confusing it with another intake?

I don't believe it has one on the intake, check out their website and contact them to be sure.

my buddy has a Saleen S/C on his 06 GT Convertible and runs 4.10 gears. there's nothing wrong with running 4.10 gears on a nitrous or S/C application, the only drawback is you'll be having a hell of a time trying to hook up cause you'll be spinning like crazy. in a nut shell, it seems the rule of thumb for gears is: Manual Trans: 3.73 Automatic Trans: 4.10

Drag radials, they're right about the intak and tune for the power but that isnt gonna make you hook up any quicker or more consistently. I should be taking my own advice right now, look at my trap speed, I'd be an easy 12 second car with drag radials I just keep putting it off till I get gear and new axles (not to say you have to when you run slicks, its just how I operate)
