What size wheels you turning?

I have read a few posts about wheel shimmy from people with 20" rims. Anyone else noticing this or are these more likely isolated incidents? This really shouldn't be happening if the alignment and balancing is up to snuff and the rims aren't bent, right?

i know people running 20's just fine. it has to be something with the balancing of the tires or possibly the rim.

I think some people running the larger wheels with the rubberband type side walls think they are experiencing steering wheel shimmy, when in fact they are experiencing feedback of the road due to lack of cushion in the tires.

You can't go with big wheels, super low profile tires, and lower the car and not expect some type of change in the cars feel.

I run a set of NAD 20's and several roads around my home make it feel like I have a front wheel out of balance giving lots of feedback through the steering wheel. The roads don't look bad, just have a lot of imperfections. When I get on any of the newer paved areas, I get no feedback through the steering wheel at all.

+1. In my case I found out that my Brembo big brake kit was actually rubbing my Shelby Razors. Tire spacers fixed that problem. I do have a tire out of round on the rear but its not noticeable.

Just for future reference, what size wheel (rim) gives the best performance? I want to go with 20's but not at the cost of handling.

To year one: if you can find some 19's you like I'm sure that would be a great compromise. Except the selection plummets in those sizes.

I have FOOSE 20's on toyos. (19's up front) I am also dropped 2"s.

Car handles better and has more feel for the road, ride is rougher though...

I have 19's all around and love em. Picked up a little more traction with the deep dish. Ride quality the same.
