'07 Mustang GT Rev Limiter

What is the stock rev limiter set to on a stock '07 Mustang GT? I was on the freeway and was going to pass a car, dropped it in third a gave it the gas. The car got to 4,000 rpm and acted as if it didn't enough fuel or air. I let off the gas and it went back to normal. I do have 4:10's installed and I am thinking that the rev limiter is set well below the 6250 red line. Feedback please!!!!

First off, did you recalibrate your ECM when you installed the gears? If you didnt thats what it is, there is a huge diff in how much your engin is spinning now with those lower gears. You propably were hitting the rev limiter, which by the way is set at 6,240 rpm give or take on your 07, and just didnt know it without you reprogramming the car.

either that or you chirped your tires in third and forgot to take TC off and it cut fuel.

that sounds like TC and not rev limiter. Sure, you have a diff gear set, but the engine RPM is just that, RPM. It doesnt matter if you have 7.5 gears(or whatever), if you hit 6200 RPM the limiter will trip. Forget the gears. We are talking about crank revolutions per minute. You mentioned you only hit 4K RPM when this happened so look at TCS or some other system

Thats true, the speedo on ours actually works off the front and back, I got the explanation from a tech when we were working on my car.
It wont let you give any gas if the car is in the air (we were listening to the trans)
But rpms has its sensor at the crank, while speedo is on the rear end, so his problem wouldnt be because of gears (cept for the speedo)

I did reprogram it to account for the gears. I didn't chirp the wheels.

and it sounds like the traction control is your problem, make sure and click that pretty button next to the radar detector power source...
