Is an exhaust recommended if installing supercharger?

I'm having a Whipple supercharger installed in a few weeks on a stock 07 GT.

I was wondering if it would be wise to replace any parts of the exhaust... be it header, mid pipe, cat back? And if you recommend replacing some of the exhaust, do you recommend header, mid, and catback or just cat back?

Lastly, if it would be good to swap any of these out, do you recommend long or short headers, h or x mid pipe, and what cat/axle back?

With artificially aspirated engines the gains basic things like intake and exhaust are multiplied. So absolutely exhaust upgrades will be even more beneficial than they would be on an N/A engine. Especially headers, because that really is the only weak link in the new mustangs exhaust, the rest of it is actually a pretty admirable setup for a stock vehicle.

longtube/ceramic coated headers will also help keep more heat out of the engine bay

the whipple supercharger was designed for a bone stock mustang gt. if you plan on just changing the axlebacks of the exhaust, then your fine. if you choose to do an offroad midpipe or longtube headers, your going to have to get a custom dyno tune, rather than using the supplied ford racing tune. the tune provided by ford racing is meant for stock headers and midpipe.

and the new mustangs are not catback, they are axlebacks. nothing is needed to be changed from the axle to the cat.

+1 for what Maverick said, IMO dyon tune is the best tune by far.
