Fabbing and mix matching brake kits

I haven't read too much on here about what brake kits you guys are using. I'm pretty up to speed on what's good and what's just excessive, but, does anyone have any good choices for rotors and calipers? Any of the good brake kits are just ridiculously expensive so it's way better in my opinion to do a little leg work yourself. Anyone fabbing mounting brackets and ebaying high end calipers from porsches and cars like that? I know there's always some to buy...
