Airaid???
I've read claims of 17 more RWHP with this system W/O aftermarket tune. Can anyone back that up? What added gas mileage can be expected?
Thanks

I couldnt tell you for sure, but we all know those claims are always exagerated. If I knew then what I know now, I would have went with Western Motorsports cold air system. Its different from all the others where it doesnt route to a similar spot as the original airbox, it mounts diresctly to the front of the throttle body similar to the cold airs on the GM LS1 engines. It redquires you to mount the coolant tanke differently but I think the gain in performance and the ability to pull in truly cool air would be worth it. I'm even contemplating scrapping my K&N for it. Just check it out before you make your decision. Best of luck to you.

I have the Airaid on mine, oldernoob. It's a noticeable difference even before I tuned it with my Predator, and during normal highway cruising, I've picked up a couple mpg's.
I just got back from Carlisle, and I averaged 27.5 mpg over the 1100 mile round trip, averaging about 70 mph. Well worth the money. Just make sure that you leave the removable venturi in place unless you start adding serious power parts such as a S/C.

I would suggest C&L over airraid or any other intake.
WWW.DYNOSPEEDRACING.COM This guy is doing work to my car and he has found that 100% of the time the C&L intake gets 3-5 more rwhp than any other intake guys bring in there to have tuned... |

The C&L does indeed have a very good track record making power. The one thing I didn't like about it is that it mounts using only the one original factory bolt hole, and wobbles around a fair bit. Not a big deal, and you can easily make it stable. The Airaid still makes good power, has a removable venturi so you can really open it up if/when you ever throw on a S/C or something, and it also uses a second bolthole that holds on the antilock block, so it's supertight when mounted.

anyways, the Airaid is a great NON tune CAI. gives you a good increase in power from 15-17HP without a tune. also the beauty about the airaid is you can convert it to be like a C&L or a JLT intake and make the MAF size WIDER having to get a retune and push in the same range as a JLT or a C&L intake, probably within a 2-4HP difference from the C&L.
cant go wrong with the Airaid

Im running the Airaid on my 07. Have a look in the moddedmustang garage at my pic under my hood. I love it, and it did give more HP. I cant tell you how much, but I did notice it without a doubt. Also, you can upgrade later with the same CAI by removing the baffle insert to get a tune for even more ! install was 30 minutes and easy.

Airaid, looks good and I like it. I put the Airaid on last month after doing alot of online research. The hp is improved but the throttle response was outstanding. After I installed it I jumped right in and the exhaust note had instantly lowered two octives and it sounds cool. Between 70 and 80 mph the low drone sound from the engine had disappeard and the engine runs smooth. I would recomend Airaid from my experience, I was not ready for a tune yet. As I posted in the new parts review the use of the added power from the CAI has created a new problem for me, (wheel hop) so I will abandon the search for horses and upgade my suspention to hold the car on the ground then resume my quest.P.S. Save all your original parts and store them away, I was at a car show this weekend and a guy had a 68? I think, mustang GT500 cobra, orange and black and I believe 100% original right down to the hard old tires, and the hoses! cool mustang and with all those original parts its worth 6 figures, that is what I was told anyway.
