Ok, I did it. I finally bought longtubes!!!

Like I said I finally bought longtube headers. I got the ARH 1-5/8 304 stainless longtube header and offroad x-pipe combo. I maxed out my credit in the procees (relax I'll have it pasi off in no time). I've got new over axel pipes sittin here in the room with me, I'm gonna wait to do it all at once. I'll be able to install my one piece Dshaft tommorow, the auto hobby shop doesnt open till then and i should have the headers by friday so i'll be up to that this weekend. As long as the weahter holds out tommorow I'll update everyone on how the Dshaft performs, after that I'll find a cruise ship that needs a new anchor and try to sell the original Dshaft to it.

I absolutely will post pics of the install, thanks for throwing that out there. I'm giving myself Saturday and Sunday but I figure I wont need that long. I read about a lontube install and the only issue really with these cars are the steering rods. I think fit and finish wont be an issue considering the material and the company. Hopefully I can inspire othe modders to do the install themselves also. Just think of the money to be saved doing it yourself. The peformance gain has me excited, but the difference in sound is what I'm most excited about.

Rstrick, i just wrapped mine up a week and a half ago. Not sure what ARH says to do for getting them up there, but the steering shaft is the biggest obstacle as you mentioned as is the starter.

To be honest, I would support the motor, and pull both motor mounts, raise the motor up as high as you can. This gave me more than enough room. I tried the single mount at a time thing like everyone says to do, but the motor would not go high enough for me to get the driver side header in. Outside of that, this job is a breeze.

I had a transmission jack to raise the motor, be careful if you use a regular floor jack, the oil pan is not incredibly strong, I'd put a pices of wood between the jack and the pan to disperse the load.

I have a metallic noise like a vibration in the muffler, I have a set of slp's I want to throw on and see if it still happens.
