Should I Replace My Upper Control Arm


I have an '06 GT ragtop with auto.
Bought stock.
I'm 48 and this is my first really fun car.
I've learned a lot and I wasted some time & money along the way.
Got 3,500 stall converter, vortech SC with cooler, 4:10's, comp cam's (tore up the stock ones right after the SC went in, factory defect or too lean, not sure), ported the heads, put in an X-pipe and magnaflows [nasty drone before the x-pipe], trans-cooler, diablo.
Dyno said 429rwhp, that was before cams and head work.
The car is beautiful (added roush wing, shaker, 18X9.5rrear 18X8front, chrome TSW's, light bar, PIAA's, black chrome grille and bezels, sequential lights, black paint on deck rear yada,yada.) and it's fast.
It's been reliable, even in LA traffic [but I mostly use the F-150 for that punishment].
Need supension advice.
Best time is 13.1 @ 109 at 3,000' elev. Car hauls ass and consistently hits 108+mph [no matter how long I sit at the light or how long I spin] but, on launch I am all over the track, gettin' sideways and occasionally crossing over. I'm thinkin' upper control arm might hook me up. Any ideas?
I want it all. City joyride, desert cruiser, vette killer, 12 second dragster.

lower control arms before upper man.

drag radials help a lot as well

Why didn't my local shop tell me that?
Maybe they're too busy.
OK then, upper AND lowers right?
What's the tradeoff, everything has a tradeoff in my experience.
Stiff ride?

At 20,000 miles my BFG's are almost gone.
They're not drag radials, they are that new cool tread pattern and they're pretty sticky [soft] but if drag radials last even less then I gotta think twice.
I only drag race about once a month [8-10 runs]. How long [miles] would drag radials last if I race once a month and burnout rarely at street lights?

Is your '01 a Bullit?

I would do uppers and lowers.

yes the ride stiffens up a tad but thats ok.
you might want to look into some full length sub frame connectors as well.

they reduce flex and are a good suspension mod

DR's aren't known for their tread life to be honest.

I don't run DR's on my car all the time so I have no idea how long they would last.

don't use them in the rain.

look at steeda.com the have a bunch of different suspension packs for the new mustangs. they have every suspension part imagionable for all the stangs. maybe give them a call or email them and get their opinion. id look at the steeda drag paks.

get a set of mickey thompson e.t. streets for the strip on factory bullitts. brenspeed has a package for under 600 shipped I believe on that. It cut 4 tenths off my 60' and really helped me out...then get some nitto drags for the street, they last longer than any dr, and grip well.
