Road Course

Took my 07 GT with the FRPP power pack to Summit Point Motorsport park in WV today. Ran 4, 20 minute sessions on the Shenandoah Circuit.

God damn do I love this car. I know there are mostly drag racers on this site but for those of you who have never taken one of these ponies on a road course. You don’t know what you’re missing. It pushes in the turns but you can correct it easily. It is easy to feel what the car is doing and it responds well to correction.

Stepping on this thing coming out of a turn to hit a long straight.....what can I say.

Need to upgrade the brakes and get some racing tires. Breaks were fading and I could feel the stock Pirellis rolling over.

Very fun car to drive.

And my girlfriend who has never really been impressed with my stang gave me the best compliment of all. My stang was the only 05+ stang out there with a bunch of porches, beamers, couple vettes, some evos, one sti. She said my car looked the best going around the track and sounds the best. Thank you ford racing gta's

Can’t wait to go back. I had a blast.

And on a side note I blew by a 350 and stayed right behind the sti for 2 laps until the checker came out. Was all over him on the straights he went through the turns faster.

The Watts link rear end is just another setup for the Mustang. Many discussions about which is better but here is site that explains the basics about what you have which is a 3-Link Panhard setup and the Watts Link setup.

http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/t_suspension.htm

As a note most road course drivers will prefer the Watts Link as it is said to keep the car neutral and the wheels planted in the corners.

If you like road racing your Mustang (which I do) you will love the new 2007 Saleen Mustang Parnelli Jones which comes standard with a Watt Link and 400hp.

Since a panhard bolts to the chassis on one side and the axel on the other the car can role like hell in a hard turn. Say you're taking a hard left hand turn, the rear ends pivot point will be the panhards attachment on the axel way out on the passenger side. The watts link brings the pivot point back to dead center on the car. To clarify, if a car had a panhard in both the front and the rear, and no control arms or shocks, you could nearly turn the car up onto it's side while the wheels stayed flat on the pavement. Watts link brings the cars pivot center back to the center.

Scroll down to the three animations of rear suspension setups and you'll see the panhards failures.

how does the watts link work in the drag race world and daily driver... im not a racer by any means, but i live in germany and have many daily chances to push the cars limits on drive to work...

i want a better set up for corners but dont want to loose anything in the straights or the daily driver..

It'll be better all around, and you get lot's of style points. Not many people even know what the hell a watts link is. Browse the Fays 2 site. It'll answer all your questions and get you salivating. The old timers say, if you can't convert to IRS than a watts link is the next best thing.

I have the Fays link. Works fantastic. Under normal driving conditions the car is FAR more stable just going around a normal corner. The rear becomes neutral and you know exactly where it will be. You can push the car to its limits and have coinfedence in it. The back willl come out a little and wham, comes right back in line an your off. On the track the car is a monster. Well worth the money. Talk to Jim and he will give you all the info you need. You will not be disapointed!

I have the Falken 452's, 275\40's all around and they work. Very sticky and great for the road corse and yet they do very well in the rain.
