Pricing on a 2007 Saleen SC

Guys,

I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum but I need to know what any right-minded, common sense oriented sane person would legitimately drop (money wise) for a brand new Saleen s-281 SC.

What is the typical mark-up? And if you could what would you drop for one? I am not going to buy one but am curious how they get to the numbers they do and what will a dealer come off.

I know on the Roush Stage 3's that the dealers here in Dallas won't come a dime down. So I thought I would ask about the Saleens.

Thanks for any thoughts.

What about "collectability" and "re-sell" value? I know I know.... don't listen to everything you hear.

I could potentially drop 22,000 dollars on mod's for an original custom built 07 GT and find myself trying to sell it (heaven forbid) in 3 years and having to take a huge loss.

as far as re-sell value goes, a saleen would definitely be worth more.. are you planning on selling it in a few years or keeping it a good while?

and collectibility would be OK, you are just aying for the name anyways

If I could finance one, i would do it. I know you're mostly paying for a name... but, i like that name.

I had some hard times too. I had to decide between the 500, saleen and roush. I ended up being cheap and just went with a gt. Everything I read on here just seems to say make more power by spending less money. But if you want to spend around 60k or more for a new saleen then go for it

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I am not buying it necessarily for JUST the name. I have done all the appropriate math on after market mod's for an 07 Mustang GT that would put it at around the same HP rating (465 total hp). And to get to the HP/Performance level of the Saleen I am almost spending about 45-47,000 dollars on the total bill (2007 GT + Whipple SC, Steeda suspension paks, full Bassani exhaust, aluminum driveshaft, Ram Air Hood, wheels and tires, brake upgrade, front fascia, etc.)

The deal is I will lose my ass IF I want to get out of my moded Mustang in 2-3 years. I am not saying that I will want to get rid of it but you never know (plus I know my past behavior).

So, that is why I ask the question. I am taking the test drive today and truly believe you guys KNOW more than anyone on these type of deals.

Is the performance associated with the SALEEN worth it?

I was with my friend when he bought an 05 saleen s/c . locally they were over 60k..by driving 3 hours he got it for 49k +tax. Not sure how much they went up in 2 years. FYI though, I have a stock GT with a roushcharger added and mine is just a hair faster than his saleen and and that 20k on my dash looks nice lol. If you buy one check around and see which dealer will deal.He got his in fort lauderdale and they came off a bunch.

Well it turns out that Saleen (even without ol STEVE on board) still aint coming off there sticker! Oh well. The car drove like a wet dream!!! It was the PJ Orange color. AWESOME. After riding in the car I have to tell you.....it may be worth it for the fun factor. Problem is I can't take out a loan at the cost per month of my house!!! OH well.
