Need new rotors soon, any input on these?

I was looking around on ebay and came across these:

Premium Performance 05-09 MUSTANG GT 4.6 DRILLED SLOTTED BRAKE ROTORS+PADS F/R | eBay

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Don't waste your money on that.

First, dont go cheap on brakes your life does depend on them. Is your life really worth 210$?

Second they will make zero difference, modern pads release next to zero gas to vent now of days, unless you're tracking the car then its pointless. If you're tracking it you should be looking into brembo.

Third they're famous for cracking around the holes themselves and you cannot get these turned if they warp because you will break the carbonized steel tool bit used on the lathe. They're not meant to take rapid pulsation like that.

when I needed new rotors, I ordered powerslot front and rear rotors from Americanmuscle.com and I also ordered Hawk brake pads. I have nothing but great things to say about them as they are 100% better than stock...I brake hard sometimes, sometimes 130-25mph and the stop seems to be twice as short but definitely smoother.

I put on PowerSlots when I did brakes. As far as pads go, I installed Hawk Performance. What a difference.

I agree with this except one thing. If you are serious about tracking your Mustang, Stop Tech would be the company to go to and there are still other options that are better out there. Brembos are great for light duty track work but are not nearly as up to the task as the StopTech calipers are for reducing pad taper and setback associated with lapping various road courses. The STs are more capable when hot and have a large variety of track oriented pads.

The Brembos are great upgrade over stock though. Combine with some good cooling, high temp fluids and stainless steel lines and they do decently enough.

Thanks for all the input, all points well taken. I am not looking to do a lot of track but I am sure I'll hit it a few times just to get the times. Although, chances are that I will get hooked on it and would not want to not be able to stop the car. I have Hawk pads now with stock rotors, but they will definitely have to be replaced by the summer.

stock brakes are more than adequate for drag racing unless you are going very fast. for the big brakes everyone is talking about road racing

after doing my fair share of research, I bought rotors and pads from ebay, the sellers name was brakemotive76. My buddy runs this set up on his 350z, and so far its been much better than stock and has not had any problems. I read on other forums also, corvette, camero, and stang forums about this particular seller, and everybody praised him. The only issue that popped up every once in a while was rotors cracking at the drill spots. They do have a 1 year warranty against it though. I decided to get them anyway because my car is only a dd, its never raced or autocrossed. If you end up going the ebay route than buy them from the brakemotive76 guy. You can Google it for more opinions on the seller. Mine have not arrived yet so I cannot comment on how they are first hand.

Price wise, mine where $202 shipped with all four rotors and pad sets. So its on par with OEM pricing. I am aware that the drilled/slotted rotors are functionaly useless, but they do look pretty dope

Glad you picked out a set. I see a lot of people running them on DD cars, but I have always been told not to go drilled because of it and heard the same, so I went Powerslots. I like the look, just wish they'd been powdercoated on the hats/vents at a minimum to keep that ugly rust from appearing. Oh, well. Hope they work out well for you and yes, they do look good.

OEM rotors, resurfaced or new if needed, and upgraded pads. If you want to go a step further change the lines to stainless steel lines and upgraded fluid. I like the Amsoil and Motul brake fluid, good stuff.

Fronts: Either Stop-Tech Aero-Rotors if you can afford them or Powerslot by Centric.

Rears: Powerslot by Centric.

Zeckhausen racing, American Muscle, maybe Stage 3 motorsports, etc.

The Stop-Tech aeros are wind-tunnel designed to minimize cooling vane turbulence and cool better than other similar designs. Which of course does not matter at all if you don't flog your car. I flog my car.

When I upgrade rotors I will probably go for these: WWW.S197FORUM.COM

SS Lines, and better fluid like Nasty suggested.

stock rotors hawk pads and lines and fluid got me through a couple of track days at Willow. You really think that drilled and slotted stuff makes that big of a difference? Not on a street car and Looking dope, and being dope are on two very different ends of the spectrum.

Pads, lines, fluid make a big difference.

Rotors don't matter much.

Dimples and drilled holes don't do much at all - and in fact can cause cracking (drilled rotors).

Slots can help "clean" during heavy braking and allow gasses to escape in heavy braking / racing applications or severe street use, and they supposedly may help in cooling, but it is not necessary.

If upgrading, however, why not buy good quality slotted rotors? Powerslots aren't very costly at all.
