Will shorties help my sound any?

After a few attempts, I'm pretty happy with the sound from my x pipe, cai, 93 tune and violators. I LOVE the snarl crackle snort when I drop it in 2nd and cruise into my neighborhood.
So I'm not going long tubes, i'll use that cash on something else, what about a cheap set of shorties like pacesetters? Long tubes are the only way to go, I get that, but no I've spent enough on exhaust so far and starting to get a nice stack of old axle backs in my garage.

I wouldn't waste your money. Shorties will make your engine look cooler at the car show, but shouldn't change sound any. Or performance.
Also, people might ridicule you for having them...

Long tubes, different axle back or a different midpipe would be the only things to make a huge difference in your sound, you stated you dont want Lt's and you already have an aftermarket x so unless you switch axle backs or go to an aftermarket H you are out of options.

I guess I'm done with exhaust then. I met a guy at the dr office last week with a loaded up roush and he was going on about how much he liked his shorties.

CMDP'S will give it a slightly more hollow sound, but you need a tune for them.

2009+ had the charge motion valves molded into the intake. Thats why they switched from plates to plugs. It took me about 45 to swap out my plates. 3 hours must be for blind people.

Why are you so against LTs? They will radically change the sound, and get you more power!

I would love LTs but they are $600 and I would need a new X pipe and my sound is pretty close right now. I do search on ebay for LTs about once a week but not much.

Yes those pacesetters, there was a thread while back on those, people liked, them didn't like them, "you get what you pay for" etc
Link 3, the black ones with the H pipe for 400, thats an X or am I nuts. Well yes I'm nuts but that still an X.

You'll find that not everyone likes every brand of header. I've heard a lot of bad shit about Pypes products, yet everything I've had by them has fit like a glove. Some people have problems with Macs, JBAs, etc... My point is that unless you are spending lots of money (Kooks, ARH), there is a chance you will run into a problem. I originally considered Pacesetters, but I was impressed by how my other Pypes stuff fit, so I decided to use them. As far as I know they only come with H pipes though. That x shouldn't be there lol

I had Pacesetter shorties on mine. They slightly enhanced the sound, but I wish I'd have done longtubes first. The Pacesetter headers didn't exactly angle correctly on mine and caused leaks. I'm going to have that corrected and sell them off later. I also have a weld to repair where some ignorantly placed wrap overheated and cracked it. I have also found it better to be patient and buy the better stuff so you do it once, it fits, and lasts longer. Longtubes are one of those items where you mostly get what you pay for. SuperMaxx's LTs, Hookers, etc. is where I've always been referred for those, but I again opted for a cheaper option with the OBX Racing ones. Fit my buddy's car like a glove...mine were apparently mis-manufactured and aim too far outward, with the RH one too high so I had a hell of a time getting stuff to seal up. I will be having them corrected yet AGAIN when I end up doing the head change and take them to an exhaust shop that isn't lazy and will take care of it for me.

To an extent. Its not all the X, but I would quite a bit is. Xs are more raspy than Hs, but a freer flowing exhaust can also have a lot of crackle to it. If you absolutely have to keep you X, you can find a shop to make it fit. If you are handy enough, you can make it fit yourself. I'm running Pypes headers with a Mac prochamber. I had to make my own extensions for it.
