What to do?

Hey guys iv been going in circles trying to decide where i wanna go with the car. I had a plan, and had my mind made up about it, but i dont think i wanna go that way anymore.

I had planned on when i get home from this deployment, throwing a Paxton 2200 form Brenspeed on her. run around 450-460 to the wheels, witch is my goal HP yo be at. i had planned to run at that power level until the engine poped, then build the motor, and tranny up and run around 600-650 to the wheels and make it a track car with ocasional street driving on the nice warmer weekends. A little more searching i found where Centri's dont hold up very well in cold weather. it gets down in the teens in the mornings in the colder months where i live. so im guessing the Paxton wouldnt be the best choice for me since i will need to drive it in the freezing cold lol. I also have decided i dont want to go so far with the car, and bild up the motor and such. i dont need the 600+ whp. im looking for 450 whp and i want to stay there and keep it streetable with the factory motor.

Iv been looking at the Roush M90 blower and the Roush TVS. I know the TVS is better, and can make more power if i wanted it to. If I end up buying new i will get the TVS!

Iv just been thinking if i can find a used M90 for 2K-2500 that would save me a lot of money, and i could do the other things i want with the car. im thinking i could get the 500hp kit for the M90, some detroit rocker blower cams (these are the cams i have decided i want and will get them regardless of what blower i get) an upgradered heat exchanger and be at my HP goal of 450. like I said going this route would save me some some cash on the blower so i could spend some on some other things like new tires and wheels, and iv been throwing around the idea of side exhaust lol..

What do you guys think, would the M90 with the upgraded equpiment get me to my goal of 450 WHP? anything else i might could add with the m90 to help me get to my goal? also MY cars an Auto with MAC LT's o/r x and FRPP stingers...

I can totally appreciate having a long term plan for your car and sitting and really thinking about what you want to do before you spend the money. The only flaw in what you're saying is, are you really going to be happy at 450? It seems like most people "think" they'll be happy, but then want more. That's my fear about me, so I'm buying a used kit and then I'll work on upgrading later to higher power goals as I can afford to build my motor.

I would definitely consider buying used. Most everything on my car is 2nd hand. M90 does get crap about not being powerful, but when you are bored with it just sell it. A lot of Cobalt and Honda etc.... guys use that as an upgrade. So it shouldn't be too hard to get rid of when/if you want.

Everybody always says "this is the power I want to stay at" Than you either sell your car and buy a damn F150 or a fucking Acura TL-S or buy a bigger S/C-Turbo.

But, I would say start with the M90 and at least put a foot forward. Headers and cams CMDPs, get a tune from VMP or another reputable place, you'll be happy with it.

Plus, I like the sound of the M90 better than anything else. Fucker is loud.

I have the M90 and got it tuned to 425 at the wheels which is pretty much maxed out for the M90. You could probally squeeze a few more out of it but it will run very hot. The TVS is a much better option and if you want more power later it will be no problem.

Did you have LT headers and cams? I am assuming you did have the CAI kit for it?

(I am asking seriously, I am trying to gauge what they do with what...)

No LT's or cams, just the Steeda CAI and smaller Pully. Would love Lt's but living in Cali its a no can do.

I did put on the AFCO heat exchanger and that did help bring down the engine temp some but the M90 does get pretty hot. It does sound awesome though!

I know I could be happy with the 450. I want it to last and eventually be just a reliable weekend cruser.

i see most people can ge the m90 to 420-430, i wonder witht eh detroit rocker blower cams if that would bump it up to the 450 mark?

Possibly, but your making that M90 work really hard. If it's going to be your DD I wouldn't push it that much.

dude, i am going to probably be getting a used m90 as well, and i want about the same as you... 430rwhp is pretty damn close to 450, i have full exhaust, cams and would upgrade the heat exchanger and do a smaller pulley and the cai... i think that will get me around tyhe 440 mark, which is within ten of my goal.. but be looking for other used blowers as well, a lot of saleen's pop up used too...

Not trying to hijack your thread but where can I get one used? I know the classifieds on here or S197, and of course ebay. Anywhere else though?

if you want the m90 and get around 450 or a bit more you'll end up w/ a full exhaust, heads, cams, and maybe some meth to cool it all down. i'd bet you could get the M90 ported also.

Dont forget about a 1 peice driveshaft and gears. Wont be more hp at the motor but the ds will give you more to the feet and both will help with acceleration. I wouldnt waste my money on heads and porting with the m90

Maybe I shouldve been more specific. I wouldnt go into a smaller supercharger knowing that I would need heads and porting to get what I want out of it. I would just go with the bigger supercharger to begin with since he is considering the TVS as well.

Even a used M90 will cost a lot once you add everything to it.
used m90- $2500
vmp 500- $800
cams- $700
Longtubes- $800
Not counting install your looking at $4800 when you can get a TVS for a grand more with plenty of hp and room to grow. And if you add heads to that your well over the cost of the TVS and still not equal to the hp.

but he already has headers... wants the cams anyways... and if he buys a used m90 with the vmp 500 for 2500-3000... now the price is a little cheaper... i agree with a tvs, but i dont have money for it either, now when he saves up the money, he will be able to sell that m90 for around the same...
