KB Mammoth or something else.
Getting closer day by day to pulling the trigger on a S/C, the poblem now im jumping around more and more. I have an AUTO 2006 GT, and will almost always be a daily driver. Someday id like 600hp, thats the overall end goal for the stang. I wish i tracked it more, but honestly its a street machine(or will be). After doing my research, ive decided i want, in order;
1. kenne bell mammoth(if im gunna spend the money, go big or go home) 2. whipple(not sure which, but whats the biggest? lol) 3.Edlebrock e force I think with an auto a twin screw would suit my needs most, and would be the most fun but the equal power of a TVs would be nice, and edlebrock is just the one that i like the most out of them. What im asking is basically just for some opinion/thoughts, and anything else y'all would like to add/say/criticize. Do you think ive made the right choice for my needs? |

If you have the budget for the KB Mammoth, I mean, come on.
The KB is just :

Whipple and TVS will get you to 600 rwhp.
the KB mammoth is overkill unless you are going for more displacement, cams, heads and everything. if you are going to stop at 600 rwhp, the Whipple or TVS is perfect. but if you want more, then you'll have to go with the mammoth. for a DD, mid 500 rwhp is more than enough. you wont even be able to get traction on the street with 550 rwhp with a TS. |

for your power goals and the fact that it's going to be almost totally a street car just go with the edelbrock tvs. to reach your power goal you'll also need to include a shortblock into your list of "to buy" items.
i looked very closely at the mammoth and the only reason i don't have it now is because of my funds at the time. i could have gotten the mammoth instead of heads, cams, built rearend, ect. the problem i found was that with the mammoth on the stock short block you would have to run the biggest pulley available and change the crank to get the hp to a safe level. at that boost level the mammoth isn't efficient as a smaller blower. |

Roush TVS, you can pretty much get to 600rwhp with it alone. If you want to do all the other work then you can get it to 700rwhp. Mammoth is overkill

why are you only talking mammoth? the 2.8 lc is a sweet unit that will work fine on your stock block and just switch pulleys to get you higher when built... daily driving would be no issue at all.. Whipple and TVS are good blowers as well, just don't get the wrong one... but the liquid cooled case on the KB is F'n sweet

Thanks for all the replies guys. The only thing im hesitant with a TVS is that i think with an auto i wouldnt be able to use it as... efficiently, i guess.. as i would a Twin screw. Just to more things to think over, but glad for all the opinions either way.

Theres a Mustang performance shop in San Antonio that has the new Boss 302 with a Mammoth on it, thing is insane. I think its the car that KB uses on their website. The owner's wife races it and its not street driven. But I'll agree with everyone else, I think it'd be way too much for a street car. I like the stuff that Edelbrock has been putting out, and they seem pretty easy to put on

So some rough estimates on S/Cs after looking through AM, ebay etc. I figure im not really spending all that much more for the Mammoth, but gaining so much. Obviously there are a lot lower prices out there, and i wouldnt pay this much for any of these, but going off starting price to compare evenly.
$ 6300 -Mammoth KB $ 6900-Whipple/FRPP 550Hp $ 5200 -Paxton Novi 2200 $ 3000-Procharger F1R $ 6600 -Edlebrock Eforce $ 6200 -Roush TVS |
