my drive will burn from 1x-24x and it is set on 'maximum possible" maybe that will help.

yea, but when you burn the CD you can chose for it to be either a music disk or a data disk. all burnable CDs are CD-rw. i really dont see how to write speed could affect anything.

It could be the write speed. Some players are more picky than others. I burn mine at 48x and they work perfectly in my Shaker 500.

The aftermarket deck in my other car will play mp3's fine as long as they are encoded at 128 or 192 - anything higher and it doesnt recognize them. That deck doesnt like fast burning either. I normally burn at 8x for it.

If you choose music then its gonna convert your mp3's into cdaudio and that kinda defeats the purpose . Needs to be burned as a data disc.

guys thanks for the suggestions. the max write speed for my drive is 24x (old POS) i think i'll just try it on my lap top and see what happens.the program i was using is itunes and it has an option for either music cd, mp3 cd, or data cd. i put it on mp3 cd. it was my first one and i only put like 30 songs on it and went and put it in the car and it would think for a couple seconds, say bad disk, and spit it out. i'll just try it on the laptop at 48x and 8x. hopfully that will sove the problem.

could be the type of disk you are using to burn your mp3's. Not all players are 100% compatible with all cd types. I'd recommend trying another type of CD-r. I usually have good success with those black memorex cd-r's. Buy a small pack or borrow some from a friend. Try one and see if you get a different result.
Good luck.

This was the main reason I went to an aftermarket head unit.

vabeach i would love to get one of those navigation headunits but id rather drop 2 grand on go-fast goodies. plus its not like the system sounds bad. ford did a good job with the shaker 1000. oh ae you running stock internals? i hope not with 500 rwhp.

Don't even know if mine works.
I've been listening to the motor and sweet exhaust tunes exclusively..
