4.10 gear installation cost

I'm going to the dealer to get my gears installed, what's a fair price?

Ring and pinion gear swap is estimated at 5 hours, so if you're having the work done at a Ford dealership, then that's all the labor you should be paying for.

Ford racing gear cost around $225 and overall cost for me was around $800, then I found out a mustang tuner who I am using now could have done it for $600 total! I'm dumb!

i paid my guy $200 bucks to install the 410's that I bought myself. So I spent a total of $450 (give or take) for the install.

Take a look at the link below, and you'll see it's not something for the faint of heart.

Dealer install will be the more than most local shops. I didn't have the time and had the work done while I was in Hawaii, it was $779 at local dealer for me.

Really sucks too since I have the tools and know-how but hell I had fun in Hawaii so said what the hell and chalked up as a trip expense.

Question anyone

I was just quoted 875 labor alone to swap out the stock gear for some 4.10's. This sounds really high. Can someone share their insight. I have 1996 mustang GT

FRPP 4.10 gears and bearing kit i found at summit the cheapest i believe 220 for both or so. i went to the dealer which was 420 to install and gear oil was like 20 bucks and i used the friction modifier which was 10. right around 700 total. i decided on the dealer because i have taken cars to him before so if anything was to go wrong with the stang he would know they installed them not some random shop.
