yea because last night i was racing another mustang and wasnt paying attention to my RPM's but when i looked at how fast i was going i was at 6800rpm in 3rd gear going about 118mph and want to know if thats bad

you shouldn't pass 6300 RPMs... The stock rev limiter is set to 6000, normally you should shift @ 6250 or below when you remove the rev limiter.

yea i figured it was bad... its just that i made the mistake of being too into the race and not thinking about my car and just totally forgot about shifting (whata fuck up!)

6800 is stiff. There's no power up there anyways, as I believe our S197's make their 300 hp @ 5900 - 6000 rpm. I bumped my rev limiter up to 6300, not because there is more power up there, but because instead of stabbing the clutch on a power shift at 5700 so I avoid the rev limiter, I can now stab the clutch at 6000, and it just barely touches 6300, but when the clutch re-engages after the shift, the rpm is right around 5800, right where all the snot is.
