Gas pump problems

I tried looking around in here to see if anyone has had similar problems, but I haven't seen any other immediate threads about this, so here it goes.

I have noticed that in maybe 50% of the time I fill up at a gas station, the nozzle will backfire some gas and cause the auto pump to stop (as if the tank were full). I believe this may just be the gas spray hitting the gas tank wall and bouncing back, if so then it would be a design problem that I figured others would have. If not...then I may need to take her into the dealer and see what the hell is going on. Has anyone else had this problem while filling up their '07 GT? Or should I be making an appointment with my local dealer? Thanks guys.

Check out the sticky on this thread listing the TSB's. I think there is one there regarding "difficulty in filling tank", or something to that effect.

Yea Gunny, I had checked the 07 TSBs, but didn't see it, I just now checked the 06 TSB and it mentions something about slow filling or difficulty filling.

I've noticed that it does only seem to occur at older gas stations that have the hooked metal nozzle, as opposed to the ones with the plastic protective covering. Guess I'll just have to be more selective of my fueling establishments Thanks for the help though, good to know I'm not alone.

I've got the same problem, you just have to slow the fill down and stay with the pump, it's no real problem unless your just anal.

I have the very same problem. I don't know why you couldn't find anything on this site. All of the guidance I got was from this site. I was told that the only fix is to replace the gas tank for the re-engineered model. It is in the TSB's. I casually threw that out when I was at the dealer and they confessed that indeed it is a nearly unfixable problem. Also, this car falls somewhere under the lemon laws because of that tank.
