FRPP/Borla Axle-Backs [5gt] Installed...wicked!!!

My coworker/buddy and I took a long "lunch break" today and installed my new exhaust...we had to walk down to kragen to get an angled socket to get one of the rear bracket bolts on the left muffler, and even then it was awkward enough to cuss over a little.

It took just under two hours [including walking to and from Kragen], and it looks good and sounds awesome - I mean, I thought the stock exhaust wasn't bad, but this is how a muscle car should REALLY sound! The great thing is it's actually pretty quiet at idle, and accelerating the purr turns to a growl and the tone remains nice and smooth throughout. The drone is very minimal, I can easily hold a normal conversation without a problem. I don't know if the noise would be more pronounced in a hard-top [i have a convertible].

Visually, the pipes are highly polished and HUGE. You can stick your fist/forearm into em. Makes the stock pipes look like they're from a 4-banger. They stick out more than I thought they would, maybe 2" at the angled tips, but I think I'll get used to it!

All in all, between the JLT CAI, the SCT Tune and the exhaust, I feel like my stang has really woken up. I'm not quite ready to do gears, delete plates, etc etc but I know eventually I'll get mod-fever again!

Chris

p.s. Does anyone know why these are illegal in CA? They're not nearly as loud or obnoxious as all the Harleys riding around in Silicon Valley...it can't be a smog thing, is it?

The Borla's are great. I installed the cat back option and they don't stick out at all. The angle of the tips are fulsh with the angle of the rear bumper. You might be able to put ample rags over each tip and tap them with a rubber mallet to take up the slack in the pipe (after losening the bolts, of course). That was the ticket for me. The following link will take you to some of the pics sop you can see and compare.

Thank, acehogg! The offset was a little more than I would have liked, but what is one to do once their on? I woul have preferred a wider meat and had everything under the wheel wells. I definitely don't want to make it look like shit.

You can adjust the over-axle pipes or mid-pipe to get them in a little more. I have the same ones and mine dont stick out that much.
