+1 on the o/r h pipe. And smoking the tires is stess on the car, mainly the clutch. Just don't do it all the time. Enjoy and congrats

Welcome. You better get to do some serious work on that car... "viperkiller" is a bit strong of a statement for a car with just flowmasters.

You mentioned "serious work", what are your plans?

Keep your rpm below 6200 and you'll be fine. Driving around in 4th gear at 3500 is not much hurt, except to your fuel consumption, but you need to realize that you're putting more stress on the internals by keeping it revved for a longer period of time. Since this is your first sports car, remember this, Mustangs are not about revving high and driving around with a loud rumble all the time. The car speaks for it's self with normal driving. You should look into some gears to really wake it up and impress some people. You want rumble, get an O/R H pipe and you'll be happy. I haven't experienced the mac LT, but I've heard they are ok for the price. To me, a tube is a tube as long as it can flow. A badass set up would be a Bassani, but that's $$$... I have BBK LT and H pipe with MagnaFlow in the back. To me, it sounds good. Not raspy, but deep rumble.

I had a Bassani X-Pipe with my Borlas. I tried both the offroad version and Bassani's high flow cats. I liked neither--they sounded WAY too raspy for my taste. Others like them and have had good luck. I can tell you there was definitely some noticable power gain (which sucked when I took them off because I hated the sound). For me, they simpy didn't work. A lot of people have suggested the H-pipe, as it is not supposed to exhibit the raspiness of the X-Pipe.

I'm not so I won't be of much help, but I will offer you this. DO YOUR RESEARCH OF THE SHOP BEFORE GOING THERE. Do exactly what you're doing by asking around. Learn from my mistakes. I have been completely taken for a ride by one in Denver. It has left such a foul taste in my mouth that I have lost many hours of sleep and enjoyment of my car. Make sure the place you go to is reputable.

I have the MAC LTs headers with a prochamber and love it. But I also have the cervini side exhaust so its a little different coming out right beside your door rather than the back of the car. I think It sounds great though. I have been a long time fan of MAC, I also have a 91 5.0 and have MAC exhaust on it, thats what turned me to MAC for my 06. I will try to get some sound clips up so you can hear it.

No problem. You are correct in that it's hard to get a true representation of the sound. My web site in my signature has a couple of clips for you to check out. It is FAR louder and aggressive sounding standing next to it, but videos are a great way to get some idea how the finished product will sound.

The good chap 06RedfireGT was kind enough to inform me of a couple of great links. The one I liked that helps a lot is here:

In the following thread, you'll find more information on this with links and suggestions for you.

I hope you find it as helpful as I did. The forum members here offer some great advice and are eager to help.

For mine, it is just fine. It makes the Stang sound like it should, in my book. If you start throwing on headers and off road pipes, I suspect it will be quite a bit louder. The Borlas (or any aftermarket muffler) seem to add a varying degree of loudness, but I've never had a noise complaint from the neighbors. Maybe I couldn't hear them yelling as I drove by

the Mac pro chamber is a good combination of the x and h pipes. it also gives it a nice rumble, but wont be unbearably loud. IMO I don't like the flowmasters, they are too quiet by themselves and the are tempermental when it comes to midpipes. I like the Borlas and Bassani. I really like the Borla axle backs with a mac o/r pro chamber and LTs. there is a link to a sound clip of on the link gunny posted.
