Bamachips Race Tune Q
I have been considering purchasing the 93 octane race tune from Doug to use with the Predator I bought from him. When I glanced at his site quickly last night, one of the things noted about a race tune was that it takes away from the daily driveability of the car, making it touchy off the line. Of course, just now I went to the site to read more about it, but it's down atm. Is anyone here running one of Doug's race tunes, and what do you think about it? Is the 'daily driveability' thing really an issue? Did it change your mpg at all for the better or worse? All these things are important to me, as my Stang is not a weekend warrior, it has to get me 240 miles one way to work every week as well.
Thanks

I think your best bet you be the 93 performance tune. I remember reading tht it was not reccomended for DD.

the website is working. I had his race tune and it was awesome!!! not the best for DD. I just brought the tuner with me to the race track and ran the race tune down the 1/4 strip and spun some heads with just that, an intake and pullies.
but this is the description of the race tune from his site: BamaChips newest Race tune will further enhance the driveability of your new Mustang. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area I can write a tune that will bring the throttle responce to life. Enough so that I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving use as it may try to jump out from a stop and possibly even spin the tires. This wouldn't be good if you were beside a police car. One of the true benefits of this tune is that it doesn't increase the timing or reduce the fuel so it can be used with only the premium grade fuel available in your area. Finally with the automatics I use an entirly new shifting curve and torque converter scheduling to further enhance the all out performance of the car |

I've been running the race tune for about a week now everyday about 50 miles per day. noticed about -2mpg versus the torque tune and -1mpg versus the performance tune. It is true what he says on the site about being jumpy off the line, I have screeched the tires a number of times while just normally driving and not trying to. I think the race tune is exactly that-A race tune. Use it when u go to the track. I like the torque tune for city/freeway everyday driving and the performance for when I'm out having a little fun on the streets.

Zip do like Mav did. Just have your dd tune you have now, and when you want to open her up just put on the race tune.

YEah I agree. With what I'm learning here I think I'll go down that road. Of course, there is also a good chance I will put the race tune in, get addicted to it, and drive the ever-lovin' snot out of my car until it blows up. lol

i run the race tune everywhere. it is touchy off the line, but its more manageable with a stick. throttle response is STUPID GREAT, in first gear, the slightest feather of the throttle makes my car jump out of its skin...
But with a stick, its easier as a DD, but considerably less mileage. i get ~16mpg city and ~24 mpg hwy, when i was getting like ~20mpg city, and ~28mpg hwy.

I'm getting it for sure man
![]() Well. Doug really is The Man. I sent him an email asking about the race tune, and had in that email also asked him about some minor detonation I had been having occasionally with one of the tunes he sent me. He sent me a reply back not only telling me he will send me back the one tune all fixed up, but that he will send me a race tune on the house for the trouble I have been having with the one tune. ![]() Bamachips FTW

that's great. getting a free tune. there is a major difference in the race tune and you will notice as soon as you drive it. i'm thinking about getting the 100 octane race tune for going to the track. just go with the gas it takes to get there and put a couple gallons of 106 for $7 a gallon at the track. also ordering a set of MT wrinkle walls. getting those for $400 mount and balanced.
