All I can tell you is that you will need different pistons than stock to handle that much lift and duration to avoid shooting a valve through your head...or so I am told by the techs where I bought mine (Comp stage 2). That and Comps are supposedly cutting edge and a killer buy.

From everything I've read the Stage III will bolt right on to a stock bottom end. All they recommend is that you have a CAI, tune, and exhaust.
Here's a link from another thread here on them: ClickY <- Excerpt from that article: "These cams are VERY mild as far as we are concerned and should be called Stage 1. For various reason that we won't go into here this is the largest cam you will find Comp selling for a while. They idle mild, drive like stock, yet add a TON of power. The actual specs of the cams are… Advertised Duration: 261 Intake / 278 Exhaust Lift : .490 Intake / .480 Exhaust Lobe Separation: 115.5 Degree " This comes from Brenspeed, a reputable tuner known well on this forum. |

Mmh, I see. Unfortunately, I took this guys word for it. The diff is only 10 hp and considering I got heads and 4.10s, and delete plates as well I'm thinking I'll live until we do a little internal work anyhow. Thanks for the feedback. Can't we trust techs online anymore? What is this world coming to? For shame...

Yeah I hear ya man. Sometimes even smart people can be mistaken though. Maybe he was thinking of the Stage IIII or a different brand? Hard to say.

I'd actually probably go with the s/c & turbo friendly Stage II, as I would like to one day put a turbo on mine.

Note that if you look at the Stage I thru IIII, they all say they add the same horsepower, they just have different profiles, different powerband ranges, and different idle quality. I'm sure your mpg changes with each profile as well, but I'm still researching this shiznit. Stay tuned. lol

I just read the article from brenspeed about the stage 3's. They made 38rwhp but that was with a BBK throttle body. I was warned against these as they are unecessary as they rob low end due to decreased inlet velocity...UNLESS, your car is making in the 650's for HP. Anyone hip to this or...?
