Racing Seats

Anyone know how much weight the 2 front seats weigh in our cars?? mine are the full leather seats.

How much weight do you save if you were switching out seats to say...corbeau

and does it even matter?

and how about those back two seats. do those weigh very much and has anyone taken them out?

I can see the rear seats but replacing the fronts to me would be a waste. You would be better off putting the money into go fast parts.

I actually was just thinking about this the other day. I just ordered cervinis steedster cover for my convertible so I think the rear seat delete is a for sure thing for me. Some corbeau seats would look nice up front. If I can find someone that wants black leather seat ( practically new ) I would sell them and put that towards the other stuff. The black leather is just soooo hot with the top down...

The rear seat delete will save about 30-40 lbs. The front seats are pretty heavy I dont know the exact weight but you will save more switching out fronts than rear. All the rear seat is is a leather covered piece of foam, there are some hardware pieces and seatbelts that you could remove for additional weight reduction. The front seats on the otherhand (especially the drivers) have more of a metal skeleton in them as well as power seat mecinism and heated seat stuff. Additionally the stock front seats do not offer much lateral stability for spirited driving. Removal of the rear and replacement of the front seats are on my long list of mods later down the line. Corbeau seats are good and light depending on the model anywhere from 17-26 lbs on average from their non adjustible racing seats to their adjustible CR1 which is the one I will use. Hope this helped.

In leather form the driver side is 70lbs & passenger if I remember is nearly 50lbs.Thats alot of weight. The rear seat delete will shave 40lbs if all hardware is removed with the cushions. You can potentialy shave 100lbs or better just by deleting/changing seats.A worthwhile mod in my book.....

Its possible, the seat possition motor and its components, and the rear lumbar adjuster... its bound to hit 50+ easy

oh OK I thought he ment each. Together is more reasonable, especially on the 07s with power driver and passenger.

hmmm more weight than i thought...but still, 70lbs - (27+27) = 54lbs racing seats = 16lbs weight savings

cool looking racing seats or very comfortable slightly heavier leather seats...

and also $800 cheaper keeping stock seats...800 towards nitrous or cams...

I'll take the cams and nitrous thanks
have a nice day

Theres a guy by the name of SPYDER on another site who weighed his seats when pulling them out to put in race seats & he weighed them.Thats where I got the #'s from. Why not do a search first before calling B.S. on someone!Ive ALWAYS given true & accurate info to people here & the other site.I remember when people told me I was lieing when I said the rear seat delete was 40lbs.Now its common knowledge.Ive about had it with people who dont really even know what the freak they are talking about yet still call B.S. on someone else!!

im probably just going to put some cheapo ebay ones in mine.
my friend ordered some for his camaro, and they were surprisingly well built, and extremely comfortable.
they were less than 300 shipped for the pair...
