Most people use the yellow top.

I think yellow has more cranking amps, but I always used the red ones with no problems from them

I'm running a red top, but would need to check my model. I didn't go with what the spec sheet said would fit, I wanted my wiring on the opposite side of the battery (towards the fire wall) so I used one that fit my coniguration. I'll see if I can pull the model number and get a picture so you understand what I mean about the wiring.. Just a clean up/appearance thing.

Mines a 34/78 and the terminals are middle of battery rather than toward the side. This is the only pic I got right now, but you can kinda see the mid mount terminal location.

Wives tale. You can have overkill, the demand is no more or no less under normal conditions. Winter temps and extreme heat are what eat batteries.

I have a 1000 cca battery on my boat which as a 2.xL V6 and it gets a kick in the ass when you turn that key. It is a noticable difference that the 650 cca that was on there.

Red tops are your standard starting/normal use batteries. The Yellow tops are deep cycle, like if you're running a powerful sound system with the car turned off, or a lot of electrical accessories, or whatever. Either one will work just fine.

You haven't had your battery drain itself for no apparent reason yet? If you let your car sit parked for 3 days or so...get out the jumper cables...I though it had something to do with the Shaker 1000, others thought the security system did it...still never heard what the actual cause is...

Lots of talk about this, a known problem with the 05-07 mustangs and the pcm continually running while parked for long durations of time. That combined with the shaker 500 and 1000 cycling disc in the changer while off also aids to the drain.

Ford can't fix, they acknoledge a problem, but no fix. Seems a decent red or yellow top nets 3 to 4 week storage times with no start up problems..

No the only problem I've had so far is where only half the fuel tank will fill if the gas pump is too fast. I've let my car sit for a week with no problems, but it hasn't been cold here yet. Time to invest in new jumper cables. Thanks for the heads up.
