GT500 Fuel Pump and Convertible

Has anyone here put one in a convertible? I have removed my rear seat to gain access to the fuel pump, but the hole in the body of the floor is offset quite a bit from the top of the fuel pump. There is very little space and it doesn't look like it will come out without dropping the tank. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

your going to have to drop the tank man.

after you drop it .. swapping out the pump is a cake walk.

You sure? It's accessible through the floor, under the rear seat. Is the offset going to prevent the removal? The 05 and up have an access panel for the pump removal. My only concern is the convertible I have looks like the offset it too great. Just curious.

not 100% sure on it but dropping the tank is easy as hell anyway.

Factory fuel pump came out fine through opening. One tip...make sure the lock ring goes under all ridges on fuel tank, or it will leak. Damnit....

easier to do the pump in the backseat! no more dropping the fuel tank like the previous years. you should have no problems doing the GT500 fuel pump in the convertible

Its nice when the designers think of technicians when designing their cars. I know there has been many a times when I was cursing the designer for making things 20x more difficult than it really needed to be. Its nice to see that someone was looking out for us...

I agree. It's stuff like the accessible fuel pump and bolt on exhaust that really allowed me to do things on my car. I'm impressed at how they seemed to have built the car with mods in mind!
